Akershus: Breakfast or Lunch

I had a 1:50 lunch booked for Akershus, but just checked and found an 8:10 for breakfast. I booked that one as well, and am trying to figure out which one to let go (which I will do first thing in the morning!!)

Is there a preference for one or the other? I've heard dinner is just so-so, but I don't think I've heard anyone compare breakfast and lunch. One thing I was thinking is that it might be nice to do it first thing in the morning when my girls (3 and 6) are nice and fresh, although we are hoping to do the candlelight processional that night, so maybe getting them up too early might not be so great. Hmmm..

Opinions? Is the food better at one or the other? Are the princesses generally the same at both? Thanks!

We had breakfast there, it was great. We saw Cinderella, Ariel, Aurora, Snow White and of course Belle.

You would be getting into the park before it opens with the 8:10am reservation. Not sure if it matters so much at Epcot, but it might be nice.

We went to dinner at Akershus and thought it was very good. However, I totally agree with pp....getting into the park before it opens is even better! I've heard great reviews about breakfast and it sounds good!

We only do Akershus for breakfast....the food is awesome (love the cold bar and cheesy potatoes ). The last few times that we have gone we saw Belle in her yellow dress taking pictures at the door, then we saw Jasmine, SB, SW, and Mulan at the table. The character interaction is just awesome there (but I am guessing it is just as awesome at lunch too). When we make our ADRs there, we like to make them for before the park opens so that when we get done eating it is right at RD. If I were you I would keep the morning ADR and then come afternoon time you can always go back to your resort for a nap/rest and then head back to Epcot for dinner and the CP.

We have been to the breakfast twice and both times it was great! We like getting into the park before every one else, the food is very good and the Princess interaction is priceless....for our nieces breakfast is the only option as they are very picky eaters and would not eat the lunch menu items.

Thanks so much everyone! I think I have my answer. I'm going to go cancel the 1:50 reservation. I'll drop by the December cancellation thread to update there first.

I'm very excited - this means that I *finally* have everything right where I want them -- no more tweaking ADR's! :)

Breakfast was good.
My only advice would be to stay away from a late breakfast but you don't have that issue :)

We just had dinner there on Sunday and it was my absolute favorite part of our trip! The princesses were wonderful and it was just so sweet to see my little 3 year old girl get so excited to meet them (and she is scared of ALL other characters). We used the free Disney Dining Plan to eat there and I am a very thrifty person, but I would have paid out of pocket for the experience we had. A lot of people were scaring me away from dinner by saying that the food was strange but I didn't think it was all that different. I ordered the salmon that others recommended (and I never order salmon) but I thought it was delicious. Our girls had a hot dog with corn and pizza so the kids meals were "normal" :-) Enjoy your breakfast there!

We did lunch in September 09 and won't do it again. The food was just ok but it took forever for the Princesses to come to the table. We sat there for almost 45 minutes after we had eaten before the Princesses came out. The food wasn't anything special. I know that we all go for the characters but what about a bbq pork sandwich says Norway?

DO BREAKFAST!!!

I know you've already made your decision but yet another vote for breakfast. We just didn't enjoy the lunch (or dinner ) food. Breakfast on the other hand was great!

Also with such an early ADR you'll be in/ out of there fairly quickly.

IMO it's the best way to meet the princesses!

Hi
I've never had breakfast there, but we had lunch this past August, and it was horrible. The princesses were great, but that's about it. I would definitely try breakfast.

Wow, thank you all so much. I am feeling like I got pretty lucky to score the 8:10 then! :cool1: I am getting so excited!!

I would never know this kind of detail without the boards. This place rocks. :thumbsup2 How in the world does ANYONE plan a Disney trip without DISboards? It's not possible, I tell you. ;)

I'm trying to decide between the two myself. currently have lunch booked - but am trying to see if breakfast becomes available.

have done breakfast there twice - love the breakfast potatos!
last time did lunch and really enjoyed it a lot, so booked it for this upcoming trip.
But now thinking would prefer breakfast and those darn potatoes!

Also, with lunch, seemed it took longer - we did the cold buffet, then got our entrees, then dessert came and then FINALLy the princesses started coming around - which was really rough for us as my autistic son was ready to get out of there. We eat - and we get the heck out of restaurants... so was an issue for us then having to sit there wasting park time waiting for the princesses to start coming around.

We've done both breakfast and lunch and prefer breakfast. We really didn't care much for the food at lunch but thought breakfast was really good - especially the potato casserole. Also found that the character interaction was better at breakfast and we were able to see all of the princesses much quicker.

We had a wonderful lunch there in may at 215. We were not rushed but it was close to the end of the lunch crowd. We would like to go for dinner. What time did you go and did you feel rushed? Thanks:)

We had dinner at 5:40pm and didn't wait long at all to get in (maybe 5 minutes). The princesses came around immediately and we had met all of them before dinner was even served- which was great!
