Akershus breakfast or dinner?

Managed to get a PPO Akershus ADR. I already had a dinner one. Is breakfast good, and is it better than dinner? Kids are small, so strategically, what benefit will we see by a PPO in Epcot?

If your kids are small, I'm voting for breakfast. All the foods will be familiar.

Though we never did PPO-- we did more of a brunch, with a 10:00 or so ADR. We hit Soarin' at Rope Drop, did the other early morning stuff, and then met the princesses at Aukerhaus.

No Mickey Waffles last time I went...eggs, potatoes on a platter and then a "buffet" area with fruit, cinnamon rolls, yogurt, cold meats, and other items.

We love breakfast at Akershus! The food is so good and even though mickey waffles aren't on the menu, we asked for them and our server brought a whole plate of the small ones to us. We love the cold buffet and the potato casserole is omg good!! We have a ppo ADR in September, so we're excited to go back with my niece this time.

the potato casserole...so really really amazingly delicious! i'd go for breakfast again just for that. i could go and eat just that. piles and piles of that.

I like both meals, I would just go with whichever menu you think you're family will prefer.

When we looked at the menus through MDE app, breakfast didn't look appetizing, but between this post and another review I found, sounds pretty good! Might be a good chance to check out whatever the new Frozen stuff will be.

How early do you need to show up and where would we go when we get there? Res is at 8:20. DH seems to remember some sort of gate to the world showcase, and since that part doesn't open until 11.. Or is Akershus not even in world showcase?

Edit- and we are planning on canceling the DDP. Will my 2 year old still be considered "Mickey's guest"?

Where are you staying?
If you are staying at an Epcot area resort, there is a "back door" to Epcot from those resorts. You enter between France and the UK. You would walk to the left toward the UK and Future World to get to Akershus which is in Norway in World Showcase. It opens for early breakfast at 8.
If you are staying anywhere else you will enter through the front Main Gates. There is a dedicated Tap Style for early breakfast ADR folks.

I have eaten both breakfast and dinner. My family actually preferred the food at dinner as the food at breakfast was just very standard - nothing special. But both meals were good.

We haven't had dinner there but breakfast was one of our most favorite meals of our trip. We plan to return during our next visit. Fingers crossed. Like others, we LOVED the potato casserole. I could have just eaten loads of that and been really happy!

We are staying at All Star Movies.

The best way for you to get to Akershus then is to take the Epcot bus from All Star Movies. It will take you to the Main Entrance and you will walk through Future World to the left and enter World Showcase to go to Norway in that direction.
It would be way out of your way to try to go to the International Gateway entrance.
I don't know what you mean by "Mickey's guest" but 2 years olds eat off of their parents plates at no charge.. If you choose to order them a child's meal instead, you will be charged for it.

That's how the CM referred to it, basically he eats free. Since Akershus breakfast is family style and not individually ordered entrees, would he eat free? We'll have a 4 year old that he will be sharing most meals with, but wasn't sure if we'll be paying for him at family style and buffet places.

Under 3 are free at buffets too. My ds will be 2 when we go. How is the lunch? I have a 1:20 Akershus reservation.

Lunch was amazing. My party ordered the meatballs, salmon, and the ravioli, and we were each very pleased with our meal. The cold buffet could be a meal in itself.

For kids, breakfast is better. Food is more familiar. We try to get the last breakfast time of the morning.

We loved breakfast. You get scrambled eggs, super yummy potato casserole, sausage, and bacon brought to your table. When we ate in 2012 on the buffet was yogurt, dried fruit, nuts, strawberries, blackberries, (I think bananas), croissants, lingonberry jam, some cheeses and lunch meat. There were some other pasteries and maybe some granola or cereal.

I had planned on doing all late breakfasts but then we got free dining so I did a mix of lunches and dinners too since they are a better value I think. As far as price. I agree , my kids prefer breakfast but dh likes nonbreakfast foods more. I will keep my eyes out for a late breakfast too. The potatoes sound amazing.
