Akershus ADR 8:15 Breakfast or 1:25 Lunch?

I have both ADR's held and want to cancel one asap. I'd like to know the following.
Is there any good advantage for RD for breakfast ADR? Where do you line up? Is it better than regular RD?
Is the food better at one or the other?
Is the overall interaction with the princesses better at one vs the other? More time, less crowds?
Is one less crowded overall than the other?

The early morning at Epcot is better served by riding Tier 1 attractions with lower crowds.
I'd book a late lunch.

We prefer the food at breakfast. We had an 8:20am adr in November and so glad we did. We were one of the first tables sat. We were done a little after park opening so the crowds were still very low. The food was really delicious! The lunch menu does not appeal to us. You will see the sign to line up for Akershus and they will take you in. We really enjoyed walking through Epcot that early with no one around. It was really nice.

I would do lunch. 8:15
would be a disadvantage for RD. You will not finish by the time the park opens and you are far away from future world.
I wouldn't be able to relax knowing that people were walking onto the rides while I was having breakfast.
If you don't like the lunch, that's a different issue. But 1:25 is a good time. It gives you time to see a lot of future world and stop in at Mexico to do the boat ride before heading next door for Norway.

I would also suggest lunch.

Spend morning touring Future World. Ws opens at 11. So at some point begin touring Mexico. Arrive next at Norway for lunch. ( nice break in the A/C during a warm/hot day). Then continue touring world showcase.

What about a 10:45am breakfast? That gets you about 1.5 hours of prime time riding and then you can still get breakfast food. After breakfast you can walk the World Showcase. Then you can book your FP+ to use in FW in the afternoon?

ADR’s for Akershus are not exactly easy to land. I was lucky to get the two I did, and that was only because I used a third party service. A late breakfast is definitely something to consider though, and I will consider it should one open up.

I agree - keep checking and playing with the times on the reservation site. If you can get a late breakfast that is ideal. Do you only have 1 day at Epcot? You could always rope drop the other day get the rides out of they way and then hop to another park (maybe AK) in the afternoon. Then on your reservation day, have a leisurely meal, visit an attraction or two and then tour WS

People talk like the lunch/dinner food at Norway is exotic or not what they are used to. But if you strip down the Norwegian names, the menu is pretty typical fare

Grilled Beef Sandwich - Thinly Sliced Beef Sirloin, Roasted Shallot Mayonnaise, Caramelized Onions, Crumbled Blue Cheese, and Warm Potato Salad
Steak sandwich


Mushroom-stuffed Pasta - with Swiss Chard, Shiitakes, and Parmesan Cream
Mushroom Ravioli


Open-faced Chicken Sandwich - on Sourdough Bread with Tomatoes, Arugula, Bacon, Mushroom Vinaigrette, Jarlsberg Cheese, and Lingonberry Mayonnaise served with your choice of Soup
Open-faced Chicken Sandwich- pretty straight foward here folks


Oven-roasted Chicken Breast - with Vegetable-Barley Risotto, Brussels Sprouts, and Champagne-Mushroom Sauce
Oven-roasted Chicken Breast- again, not that exotic


Pan-seared Salmon - with Potato and Celery Hash, Salmon Bacon, and Maple Gastrique
Pan-seared Salmon - seriously, why are people scared of this menu?

Traditional Kjøttkake - Norwegian Meatballs served with Mashed Potatoes, Seasonal Vegetables, and Lingonberry Sauce
Sweedish Meatballs - yeah I know this is Norway, but this is the name that americans are familiar with to describe meatballs served like this. Very similar to what you get at Ikea.

I definitely get what others are suggesting by saying that lunch would be a better choice for you. However, I always make a pre-park opening ADR there (always try to get as close to 8am as possible) because we are in love with the breakfast. However, we don't stress or rush back towards FW after we are done either, we like to walk back enjoying the early morning hour in WS (we don't go at a snails pace, but we aren't running back either)...the park is so pretty in the morning with not a lot of people walking around it. I always plan out our FP+ for a little after park opening and we are still able to ride the same ride again in SB, but then again we tend to go to WDW when the crowds aren't crazy busy either.

I’m a foodie and this hardly qualifies. We’re paying for the experience more than anything. I was just wondering for what it is, which is basically as you described, if it’s any good. A simple steak sandwich can taste like dried up leather shoe tongues on crappy store bought bleached wonder bread rolls, or it can be tender slices of well-seasoned dry aged prime beef on a good crusty fresh baked ciabatta.

I thought lunch was "Disney Good", the meat wasn't shoe leather, but I'm sure it wasnt dry aged prime either.

Per Rusty's latest update, Breakfast is $44.72 and lunch is $45.79 so basically, the same price.

Breakfast is scrambled eggs, potatoes, bacon sausage and a buffet of the same Disney "pastries" on pretty much every other buffet with a few regional exceptions, yogurt, fruit etc. I think $45 is a lot of money for that, especially since it no longer comes with the photo package.

Lunch has choices that include beef, chicken and salmon, plus a nice salad bar with a nice assortment of regional meats, seafood and cheeses. (Loved the brown cheese). PLUS Desert.

If it's breakfast food you want then I would keep trying for a late ADR. We have a 10:50am ADR for our August trip and it's worked well for our touring. We've been to breakfast, lunch and dinner at Akershus and love breakfast (not as fond of lunch / dinner). Just our opinion, but if you really want breakfast food, I'd keep trying on a daily basis. It really does book up quickly (we always book at 180 days so have had luck getting times we want). Keep trying and good luck

wait, no photo package? Is that with breakfast only? Does lunch include it? The photo package was a big part of the decision to go there.

The photo with the Akershus meal (which is overpriced by at least 100%), was a nice touch that made the meal price a little more palatable. It was pretty sweet to be able walk away with something physical to go along with the memory and experience. I actually said to myself, "It's pretty cool of Disney to do such a non Disney thing". It really was the tipping point that got me to book. Sometimes it's the little things.
