We have only rode this once because we do not want to be wet after the ride. But I would like to try it again sometime. Has anyone tried using those dollar tree ponchos while riding it? Are you able to stay mostly dry?

Any other suggestions to stay dry?
Thanks!

There is really no way to stay dry if you're in a part of the boat that gets hit on Kali River Rapids. If the boat hits the water just right you will have water rush over the sides and the poncho doesn't keep your bottom half dry then.

When are you going? We usually go in July and are dry in an hour!

Ponchos may work a little, but you'll have to tuck it all around/under you and you will probably still get some down your neck. How bout wearing your bathing suit and water shorts and bringing clothes to change into?

We won't be there until next March. Maybe if we save it for the last ride of that park I may talk DH into giving it one more try.

Thanks!

Just back and used the ponchos you are talking about. .69 at our local cheapo store. Worked great. People in line were trying to buy them from us lol! Our feet got a little wet, but not bad at all, rest of us completely dry, even my bag which I put under the poncho as the bin for bags had a puddle in it) Tuck it around you as best you can for best results. People getting off were completely drenched!!

We try to hit it last thing before we leave LOL

DH tried the poncho and ended up wet and unhappy - maybe he didn't tuck it enough.

We've done both wearing bathing suits - with a shirt/ shorts over top of it just to look right with water proof flip flops

and we've done it as the last ride/ rides of the day and just gone wet to the car (where I've got towels to sit on)

and we've done change into something before you get onto the ride (like another pair of shorts/ tshirt / flip flops) and then change back afterwards - note if you get really soaked your undergarments will still be wet but at least all of you isn't.....

We usually hit this ride last.

And we drive ourselves so we don't have to ride the bus back soaked.

We plan ahead-we bring towels in the car to sit on because we ALWAYS get drenched! :-)

We really like this ride and enjoy it thoroughly when we know we leave right after and drive ourselves back to the resort!

Dollar store ponchos worked fine for us.

Only one of the seven got wet and that was because she didn't put her hood up, allowing the water that splashed over the seat to get under the poncho.
Of course she was also in the seat that took the brunt of the splash down deluge.

OK we are going to give this a try. Saving it for the last ride, with ponchos from the Dollar Tree, and then we can drive ourselves and have towels waiting in the car for us! Sounds like a plan. And I will be sure to tuck it in all around me. Maybe we will be one of the dry ones! Hopefully!!!!

Ours had actual sleeves with elastic wrists and hoods that tied. I didn't realize that was the kind they were until we opened them. This may be why we stayed dryer than others who said they didn't work so well. If you can find this kind, maybe get them. They were cheap, like I said .69 each so knowing we weren't using them to ride again and didn't want to carry them around all wet, we tossed them after the ride.

DH opted out, but our DS's and I rode with ponchos, and stayed dry. The key, as others have said, is to tuck it under or gather ALL of the excess plastic in front of you. As we exited the ride, we held out our used ponchos to those waiting in line and they were snapped up!

I've had good luck staying mostly dry with a poncho. I just make sure on AK day to wear Dri-fit clothing just in case.
