AK - Tough to be Bug and "Dinosaur" - How scary?

I have a 3 year old and 5 year old - the 5 year old is sometimes overstimulated. As an example, we visited briefly when she was three and got somewhat scared at Philharmagic.

Just how bad is "Tough to be a bug" and "Dinosaur". Are there any ways to mediate (fyi - sit in certain area, etc)?

Both of those are very intense.

My daughter worked at ITTBAB and walked out many a young child and their parents. Now that said we went last year with what I consider timid 3 and 5 year olds and they liked it. But it is loud and intense and in your face.

Dinosaur is dark, jerky and also in your face. I won't do it myself anymore -- its just too dark and jerky. I have never taken young children on it.

Dinosaur is loud and scary no matter where you sit. Imagine darkness, loud noises, Dinosaurs roaring in your face. It makes me jump!

Bugs Life has never scared our dd but everytime we've been I have seen kids get hysterical.

Based on the ages of your kids I would skip both attractions!

I would not take a 5 year old that is easily spooked to either of those...especially Dinosaur. Both are MUCH, MUCH more intense than Philharmagic. The 3 year old I wouldn't take period.

Both my DDs liked ITTBAB when we went last year. They were 2 and 5 at the time. The show itself is not very scary and you can alleviate some of the scary special effects by sitting forward in your seat or holding a small child on your lap.

Dinosaur is jerky, scary, and LOUD!!!!! My DD6 will be ready this year, but I do not think my DD4 will enjoy it at all.

I agree with waiting for the children to be a little older for these two attractions. There are always screaming children when I see ITTBAB. I feel sorry for the children, the parents and the audience.
Dinosaur is just too herky jerky!

If you decide to do it I recommend sitting as close to the exit as possible on the very far side, closer to the back will be better as the effects would be less intense. That way when your child starts screaming bloody murder you don't have to step alot of sets of toes to get out. Even if you need to wait until the 'next' show time to acheive this I would recommend it. It can be quiet traumatic to sit in the middle and have a child flip out and then have to go thru all of the row to get out, thats longer the child will be in the stressful situation and it will be mega stressful on you.

Dinosaur: no way for those ages, even if they meet the heigh requirment. DD we are going to let 'consider' it this trip at 8, DS 4 is just out of luck I'm not about to let him get into Dinosaur and then have nightmares for weeks. It scares the bonkers out of me and I'm alot older than they are!

I've seen 5 year olds that love ITTBAB and I've seen some who scream in fear. Ask the cast member if you can sit towards the back near an exit. If it gets too intense just leave. It's a great great show though.

Dinosaur, heck even some adults are afraid of that ride.

My ds...who rides Expedition Everest without a thought...will NOT go near Dinosaur or ITTBAB. He did Dinosaur once...and said he liked it..but wouldn't do it the next year. He also won't go near Honey, I shrunk the Audience in Epcot.

Never seen It's Tough To Be a Bug and I have no desire to ever see it. I hate bugs.

As for Dinosaur, I'd say that it is definitely too intense for a 3 and 5 year old.

DS,8, hated ITTBAB, but his younger sibs enjoyed it. Totally depends on the kid....I honestly don't remember the details of it, so I'm not sure how intense it was.

Dinosaur, however, I remember, and I looved it. DS's aged 5-8 rode too, and liked it. It is very herky jerky, dark, and loud. Our youngest will be skipping it this time around and he'll be 5. Sounds like you might want to skip this one with your DS as well.

Ok we have been every year since DD8 was 3. AS bugs life at the time was one of her favorite movies. Yah she freaked. We waited till she was 5 and she asked to go back to ITTBAB and she freaked again. She keeps saying she wants to do it and we get there and she climbs up in hubbys lap and puts her head down. I told her we were not doing it all this year. So I can't say that I would reccomend it. We have never done Dinosaur because we figure she will freak out.

Six and a half year old twins love HM, ToT and Everest. One hid under the seat for Dinosaur (she didn't show up at all in the photo); the other hid face into me. One saw most of ITTBB but the other didn't want any part of it.

At 7, neither wanted to see ITTBB and one went on Dinosaur with me (but probably didn't see much.:rotfl2

I read the warnings and thought - not my daughters- they love to be scared... I was wrong about these two attractions. I'll try with them again at 8-1/2.

Took my 3 year old on It's Tough to be a bug. She hated it. She was scared and she is not easily scared. Her favorite ride was Snow White & favorite character was Beast and he was huge. There were so many bugs in the show and it was just creepy. I sat her on my lap halfway through since I know it pokes you in the back of your chair, etc. Definitely wait.

I hate both and I'm an adult. I would definitely avoid Dinosaur . . . if someone really wants to do ITTBAB, I agree with putting the kids on your lap. That will save a couple of the effects. And taking off the glasses can help too if you couldn't exit midway through (if needed).

Does sitting child on lap take away some of your experience as well? I take it there is some effect they use on the seats???

There is an effect on the seats, but it will not diminish if you have your child on your lap. However, you might actually prefer it if it did!

with tought to be a bug, it will easily overstimulate a child. First, it's in 3d, then they use effects (like stink bugs going off - blow gas, spraying water etc)

Dinosaur is very dark and extremely loud, plus its very jerky and if you do go on put the kids to the left (dino jumps out from the right)

I absolutely HATED its tough to be a bug when I was young. I wasn't easily frightened, but I cried and shielded my face the whole time.
I've never seen it since!
