Hi all, just wondering how long we should plan on to get from AK to dinner ressies at 7pm at Boma? This will be during the first week of August (crowd levels at 8). Is it possible to walk there and leave our vehicle in the AK parking lot or will we need to drive there?
TIA!

I would not recommend walking to AKL/Boma from AK the park.
I have no idea how long it would take, but the bus ride is about 5 minutes. The website lists transportation by bus and does not refer to any walking paths specific to AK or AKL that I could find.
Of course I could be wrong...
According to the website:
"Complimentary transportation is available one hour prior to Disney Theme Park opening time up to 3 hours after Disney Theme Park closing time. Additionally, buses operate until 3:00 a.m. from the Downtown Disney Area. Certain areas of Walt Disney World Resort are also connected by well-lit, paved, low-grade walking paths."

August can be hotter than the gates of Hades, even at night and I would not chance it.
I once walked from POP to CBR to eat at Shutters in May and would never do so again! Hot, sweaty, crabby- :headache: no fun!

If you have to drive, I would drive.

Alternately, I would take a bus from my home resort to Animal Kingdom for the day (usually closes at 5 pm unless EMH), then take the bus back to AKL.
There is plenty to do at AKL until your ressie: tour the resort, view the animals from common areas, sit at the fire pit, find the hidden mickeys, etc.
After dinner I would take the bus to DTD and then transfer to my home resort bus.
But that's me- :confused3 I hate to drive on vacation!!!

AK and AKL are very close, but you can't walk. I'd suggest just taking your car. Its free to park at AKL- just tell them you have a reservation. Or, if you took a bus that day instead of driving to AK, you could take a bus to AKL. AK closes early most nights, so if you did a bus, you might want to take one back to another theme park or DTD, then home. I'm thought buses only ran 1.5 hours after park closing but the above quote says 3. The fastest option is definitely driving. Should only take 5 minutes or so once you find your car at AK, but I'd allow 30 for driving and arriving early.

Thanks for the response. We are staying offsite, so we will be driving our own car to the parks (DH likes it this way...I think it makes him feel in "control" of the situation:confused3).
I knew that AKL was close to AK, but had no idea of drive time from the parking lot to the lodge. If we have time before or after dinner we'll be checking out the sights at the AKL.
Thanks!

I like driving usually too...even when staying on site it seems faster (unless its to MK...where it takes longer to drive because you have to go to TTC, then the monorail or ferry.)
