I just booked sav view room at AK at the end of the month. I know NOTHING about what view to request. Can you please help?? My child really wants to see giraffs... Please help.

Plus, is this a good resort for a 3 year old? I am not concerned about transportation because we will have our own car there and plan on driving to the parks.

We're planning our first trip to AKL with our 6, 5 and 1-1/2 year old in Feb. I've been told (from other posters on the board) that it will be great for these ages. I'm guessing a 3 yr old would love to see the animals. It is further from MK than other resorts but I hear the bus system is great. As far as the view, others will probably have more specific advice but I've been told to request rooms on the Arusha Savannah. I booked through Dreams Unlimited so lucky for me Sue Ellen at DU is handling the room request for me. Hope you have a great trip. :D

Hi,
We just got back from an eight night stay at AKL, and loved it! We
were in room 3515 and had a great view of giraffes, zebra, cattle and some
antelope. It varies during the day what animal were where, but they always
fed them outside our window almost everyday. This is an Arusha Rock
facing room. There were at least three giraffes around. The room is a little
walk to the lobby, but right by the elevator which leads to the pool, laundry,
and food court. We had a blast. If you have anymore questions just ask.
Almost forgot, loved the transportation. Buses all to your self, no lines. 10 minute wait on NYE at 12;30 compared to hour or more at all other stops.

I don't remember the name of the savannah, but it's the one that's "behind" the front desk. No zebras (but you can see those from elsewhere in the resort), but we were on the 2nd floor (1 floor down from check in) and my daughter was blown away when she looked out the doors and saw a giraffe "looking in" our room.

I know you're not concerned about transportation, but it's one of the reasons I'm NOT staying at AKL for our trip in March. One morning it took 45 minutes for a bus to MK... and since we spend MOST of our time there... that was unacceptable. So, it's the contemporary for us! :D

Arushu Savanah from the Kudu trail has a good spot for giraffes a little more than halfway around the trail. Up in one of the trees is a feeder they stuff with hay. The giraffes seemed to always be our there in the morning. We told our five-year-old (at the time) that she'd wake up and see giraffes outside her window and they were as if on cue the first two mornings.

My husband and I stayed at AKL in December of 2003. We had a SV room in the Arusha Savannah location. It was great. We were on the 4th floor and there were always at least 2-3 giraffe there at a time. There were Bongos and other animals as well. I LOVE this resort. One day when we have children we'll return.
