My wife will be five months pregnant when we go can she go on the safari ride at AK. I don't remember it being that bad that it's recommended that mothers-to-be don't ride.

We are staying at the AKL and planned to do the Sunrise Safari which is a longer version of the regualar safari ride i.e. more frequent stops for pictures. I would have thought she be okay, but now I'm a bit worried. :confused3

Thanks in advance. :wave2:

It was fine. Of course No roller coasters, no TOT, etc. I also went jet skiing later that week at the beach. Water was calm so we thought we'd go out and tool around really slow. Well, wind kicked up creating whitecaps and to get back in, we were really hitting those waves. Thought for sure I'd scrambled my little one's brains and was in a panic. But when I told my ob, she said that was fine, not to worry, that the baby is well protected, the amniotic fluid absords the shocks, and that I was shaken around more than she was. My now six year old is perfect ...but I was worried!

this is a tricky one to be honest...

Yes it is advised that mommys to be do not ride.

Having said that, I did the ride when i was pregnant, as like you, I didnt remember it to be too rough. I hated every minute of it.. it seemed MUCH bouncier when I was pregnant than I ever remembered it. I was only 14 weeks though.. at 5 months it actually might be uncomfortable for your wife to be bouncing around!

At the end of the day, Disney put up those recommendations to cover themselves should anyone blame them. Lots of people go horseriding, skiing and a whole lot of other things when they are pregnant.. and they are just fine.

I guess what I am saying is, in all likelihood the baby and your wife will be just fine.
Would I ride it again when pregnant.. no way! That experience made me realise that nothing was worth risking the health of my baby -as I really didnt enjoy the ride.
But, someone else might not feel so guilty.. I have a habit of beating myself up about stuff..

I'm a Safari driver....and it is suggested that pregnant women do not ride. The decision is entirely hers, we cannot tell her not to ride, nor suggest it may be ok. I've driven the Sunrise Safari, which lasts about 45 mnutes long. We drive much slower through most of it, with frequent stops....however, we still drive at more or less the same regular show speed throughout the 'poacher's chase', which is the bumpiest part of the ride..
