I am sure this has been answered, but we were at AK a couple of weeks ago and saw the construction of a roller coaster underway. It looks REALLY GREAT - very high! I was just wondering if anyone knew what it was going to be and if it was going to be an indoor roller coaster most of the other ones? They really need an outdoor, LARGE roller coaster.

Thanks!

It's Expedition Everest. There's a lot of information about it around; if you search there are several threads, but I'm not techno-savvy enough to give you a link, sorry.

I think it's due to open around New Year's 2006? Or maybe earlier in the fall of '05?

Surely there are plenty of folks who know more than I; come on guys!

Thanks MrsR! Sounds like fun! Wonder if they will be hitting you with snow balls in the middle of summer? That would be nice!
Sure would have liked it when we were there a couple of weeks ago.

You're right - surely someone knows a little more. But now that I know the name of it, I may can search a little more.

Rumor has it that E:E will be open in the Fall of 2005, and I'm guessing that it'll soft open a couple of months before the official opening (as Mission:Space did).

Rumor also says that parts of E:E will involve going backwards at high rates of speed, a la Indiana Jones in Paris.

Woooohoooooo!!! FUN FUN FUN~~~ I wonder if you're going DOWN the mountain backwards? I HOPE HOPE HOPE they are going to open it at the end of 2005 because we're hoping to be back in Feb/March 2006. I can't WAIT to get on it! It looked HUGE, but then again, it was just the skeleton, so it may not be that huge.

Thanks - MomlovesDad

that sounds like a lot of fun. it won't be ready by the time I go this time. looks like I'm going to have to go again.

Expedition Everest is scheduled to open in 2006. Want to know how I knew? I went last week and did something most people don't do:tongue: : I read the sign!(duh):thewave: woop for me!

I've heard different things on this. I had also heard 2006, but in my latest Disney Magazine, they hinted that it may be open to celebrate Disneyland's 50th Anniversary, which would mean May 2005. How far along did they look on construction?

When I saw it, I was pretty far off, and they had the steel structure of the track up. It didn't really look very far along. Still a lot of work to go. I've heard they may have a sneak peak opening - from this thread - in the winter of 2005. I wish I could have been closer to the sign. I wonder if they had a drawing of the finished product on it? Alas, we were too far away to see any sign....
