While both have things that I'd like and maybe not like so much., I'd pick AK since it is our favorite way to end a vacation. I'd like a small add on that I could use to book my last three or four days of vaction and I'd like to have the 11 month advantage. Contemporary would have been a bigger thrill for me when my kids were smaller, but now I'd take my chances at the 7 month window.

I would love to do both but I am a point hog!! So I am thinking that any day that starts with me rolling out of bed and looking at the castle princess: will be a magical one for me :wizard: :wizard: !!!!

Thanks Cricket for adding the both option. :goodvibes

Very interesting to me so far. Close in the poll, too. I'm thinking the DVC Contemporary if it comes to be may be harder to get at the seven month window, too - especially if there are guaranteed MK views. Wow, how cool would that be?!?

We just like the MK park the best. Even before we had kids we'd go there most and I see that to be the case even when we're old and the kids are grown and gone. :hourglass

If they have different guaranteed views, that would probably be a little more motivation.

Goodness knows I don't need any more motivation. You think it's possible that owners will get guaranteed views? It's not like that at any of the other resorts.:confused3

Ak would be my choice as the themeing is incredible and I really love AK Park (not that MK isn't spectacular). I just very much prefer AKL to CR.

with BW - you have the Preferred view, Preferred view - BW only, and standard view.

both the preferred view - BW only and standard view - are very hard to get. unless you are lucky and someone cancels - at times of the year unless you own at BW forget about those 2 views.

Oh yeah I forgot about that. Hmmmm... You guys are really doing a number on my addonitis.:scared:

Not true. As spiceycat said, BWV has guaranteed Boardwalk View, and guaranteed Standard View. I don't think Disney will (or should) create a two-tier point system within a resort again like they did with BWV, but I'd like to see them create the guarantee view categories with the same point system to give resort owners first crack at the best views. Also, it would seem to me to give the front desk relief from the "What? I'm looking at a parking lot instead of a savannah?" tirades from guests checking in. :sad2:

how dare you call my future home a "concrete blob" :rotfl: none of that toaster stuff either;)
to many of us of a certain age, the CR is "it" the enjoyment factor of sitting on your balcony and watching the sunset and MK fireworks is indescribable imo. The rehabed rooms are mighty snazzy too.

You either "get it or you don't" and there's the beauty in DVC, something for everyone to enjoy! Assume we'll eventually stay @ VAKL if the points are fairly structured, but AK is an afterthought for us, if they hadn't put in EE we probably wouldn't have made the long trek over last Oct.

You guys are going to be the ruin of me.;) Now I have absolutely no choice but to add-on.:headache:

Funny, I like the spartan, concrete jungle theme of the Contemporary. Feels like a Sci Fi movie...Colussus, the Forbin Project, more recently Minority Report or the Fifth Element. Not Children of Men, however...altho' that might make for a different twist for the DVC structure.

I'd be even happier to stay there if they went for cutting edge in modern design (unlikely). The one downer is that

The AKV design looks like an extension of existing designs so it'll be great for a place to stay occasionally. I won't have a need to own there, CRV I'd consider especially if it gets its own 50 year times span (mainly for resale reasons, I'd be pushing 100).

We don't really know what DVC at the Contemporary would look like but I bet it will be a lot more themed than just the resort

Never was interested in AKV - too out of the way.

Size matters. It is my understanding that the AKV is going to be a large development. I think that 7 month availability may be possible as a result. I'd like to sit back and see what's really going to happen.
I agree. I forget the exact numbers, but I think AKV is close to 400 units when fully built out. And the Contemp building is supposed to be sixteen stories -- that's got to be at least 300 units.

I'm personally not excited enough about either one to HAVE to stay there. If I want to try them, I'll survive if I can't get something at 7 months.
