AK first timer questions

Going to the AK for the first time in a few weeks and CAN'T WAIT! But I do have a few questions.

I have studied pretty comprehensively and have a pretty good idea about things, but any other advice on what rides are definite must dos and which are don't bother with.

Right now its looking like the Safari, Dinosaur and EE are at the top of the list. Anything else need to be there?

ANDDDDD, possibly most important, what is the best restaurant there????Thanks in advance.

Its Tough to Be Bug
Flights of Wonder (yes, the "bird show"... its great!)

Definitely Festival of the Lion King, and Tough to Be a Bug is high on my list (but take all the guidebook warnings very seriously if you are going with kids or don't like bugs).

Two more rides to add would be Kali River Rapids and Primaval Whirl.

The parade at AK is my favorite daytime parade. I think it is a must see.

Oh and by the way, how does the bugs lifes 3-D show compare to the Shrek and T-3 shows at universal? Those are the only 3-D shows I've seen.
Better? Comparable? Worse? Not that it matters because I will see it regardless, but just curious.

Bug is closer to T3, from what I understand, in that it is not a motion simulated ride and the theater "performs" with the movie. I haven't been to US, but all of the 3D shows at the Disney parks are phenominal and not to be missed.

In addition to those -- and especially if you have kids although none were mentioned -- Conservation Station and Camp Minnie-Mickey, and the two treks: Maharajah and Pangani Forst (I love walking through those to slow down the pace a little bit and just enjoy nature).

Thanks, yes that Asian jungle trek thing looks cool too, thanks for all the suggestions.

I take it this is easy an all day park? I know I've read that some do it in half a day, but its so big seems to me its an all day thing easy?

Also, be sure to look for performance artist "DeVine".

Festival of the Lion King is really a fantastic show. I am not a show person at all, but after having heard so many people speak about it, I tried it and it was fantastic!

Take the time to enjoy the park, walk both of the trecks, both are themed so well, even without one single animal they are a sight! And there are many cast members around to explain the animals.

In my opinion AK can easily be done in a day, but I would recommend not making it a half day park, it is so beautiful and if you take your time to see it, you might not notice the big distances between the different attractions.

With regard to attractions, I consider Kali River Rapids a must do besides the three you mentioned.

For me, AK is more of a day and a half park. I like to go slowly and enjoy all the animals, like I would at a zoo, and also like to ride all the rides and see all the shows. There is just no way to get everything done in one day, even during low attendance. Sometimes it takes us an hour or more just to make it past Discovery Island! My kids and I love to stop and look at all the animals, and talk to the CMs in front of the exhibits. So many people just rush on by trying to get to the rides, they are missing so much of what makes AK an amazing, unique park.

Definitely don't miss the parade, it's a ton of fun. We don't care much for parade, but the one at AK feels more like a moving show than a parade. Very different from anything else you will ever see.

It's a bug's life, and Festival of the Lion King are two shows that shouldn't be missed.

Until they open the new *under construction* table service restaurant at AK, there are few choices for a nice dinner.
You might want to hop a bus over to the Animal Kingdom Lodge, for dinner at Jiko or Boma. Yum Yum Yum!
