AK Element -progress thread Due Date 9/20 Everyone has checked in!

The Rainforest Cafe at DD has a volcano, the one at AK, I think just has a lot of greenery and a giant waterfall.

I kind of like the different lines for the words. I'm sure doing it messed up would work look nice too, though. I know, I'm no help.

I know I'm not in that group, but I really like the way it looks with the straight line for Discovery and the googly Island.

I like the wording as is. I wouldn't add fiber to the tag, an eyelet maybe. Maybe some simple embellishments on the topper, but otherwise, it's a great topper!!! Great job. I suppose I'm not in that group.

Tigers are done.

I sketched and partially assembled my Asia group and then decided I didn't like them and tossed them. Now I'm back to the drawing board again, literally. I've been looking through pics of Asia for inspiration. I just can't decide how I want these to look because I don't want them to be too "Asian" but I want them to have the right feel.

Can you tell I've been suffering from scrappers' block?

P.S. Forgot to add that I'm waffling on my water group also. If I can switch my kit to Cheetah, this one will be a cinch.

I totally agree with you about trying to figure out Asia...I'm trying to decide what to do for asia in the ak newbie swap and am really suffering as alot of the themes have buddhas in them and due to personal conviction I can't scrap those! Please don't take offense anyone!

can I ask why you have a personal conviction with Buddha???

ETA: I'm not religious in any way but if I were to choose, Buddhism is the way I would go simply because their philosophy is based on religious tolerance.

I really don't want people to think I am trying to cause a fight here! My beef with buddha really is stemming from childhood memories of visiting temples and getting really scared and freaked out by all the imagery. As I've grown up (or have I really) as a Christian I don't believe in re-incarnation - I believe that all of us are created unique and special by God and that his Son Jesus is God. I don't believe buddha is god and so I don't want to worship him. In my culture when I was growing up he was everywhere and people would have little houses/shelves where he would sit and they would offer food and incense to him. So even though I respect others if they choose to believe in buddha I really would prefer not to scrap or make things with him on it. Hope I'm making sense and not offending you.

nope I get it. No offense here and I didn't want to offend you either. I was just curious. I grew up Catholic but mom pulled us out after the Sunday School teacher refused to believe that Dinosaurs existed and would refuse to discuss it further with my brother (he was obsessed with dinos at the time). He was extremely upset about the whole ordeal.
I personally do believe in re-incarnation but I would never diss anyone for believing other wise.

I made one photo mat, 1 tag and a shaker box from a slide frame for my water group. Does the shaker box count as 1 item or do I need to make something else?
