I keep going back and forth on this one... Tusker breakfast or Yak and Yeti lunch. TH breakfast is currently on my list but I am wondering if I should change... Y&Y peeks my interest.

We are doing the DxDP and already have Chef Mickeys and Ohana's slated for breakfasts.

I haven't eaten at Y & Y (I really want to and it's at the top of our list for next trip), but my DH and I just ate at the TH for breakfast (before the park opened) and it was one of the best meals of the trip. We really enjoyed everything about the experience and it was fun to be in the park before it opened. I think that you'll be fine either way! Have fun!

Yak and Yeti. We think the food there is outstanding and the appetizers (included with the DxDDP) are also very good. Aside from the signature restaurants, the best meal we ever had at WDW. The characters at Tusker House can also be met at the Mickey and Minnie Greeting Trail in AK Park and they are in their safari costumes (usually). In December, I know Goofy wears his Santa outfit instead.

We like to do both, especially with Tusker House at 8am before the park opens at 9am. We like AK park a lot, so doing both during park hours usually means a 2nd day at AK park... which I don't mind... I like the Gorillas....

Our 2010 Dining Review (link below) has reviews with pictures of Tusker House and Yak and Yeti.

I've done both and I'd say definetly go with Donalds Safari Breakfast.

We've also done both

and actually loved both meals

but between the 2, I'd suggest Tusker - it's a terrific breakfast buffet and includes your traditional buffet items and some non-traditional African inspired ones. there's something for everyone and you leave there quite full.

in fact, we've returned to Tusker but not to YY - but not because we didn't like YY, because we loved Tusker

Suggestion is late ADR - around 10am - this will keep you full the entire day.

You're on DxDP - can't you do both? Breakfast around 8 am at Tusker; lunch 1:30 - 2 pm at Y&Y? Then a later dinner somewhere after the park closes.

I have not tried Tusker and would like to (breakfast only, I think) but I LOVE Y&Y.

I've never been to Yak & Yeti so I can't compare the two. But I loved Tusker House breakfast! We just ate there for the first time in May and we all had a great time. The character interaction was great and they had a large assortment of food. And the food was really good. I would definitely go back again.

That's our plan! 8am Tusker House, 1pm Yak and Yeti, then a later dinner at Jiko around 7pm. Perfect. Three great places, all delicious food. Last trip, we rode Kali River Rapids many times in a row (I lost count)... changed clothes and had a great lunch at Yak and Yeti cooling off with their Safari Amber Ale! Same plan this year!

I thought about it but honestly we aren't early risers... and we are staying at the Poly so its gonna be a decent amount of travel time just to get to AK. My youngest son (6 years) has autism and many other medical issues which cause extreme fatigue so we REALLY need to protect his nights sleep. We usually let him sleep til 8:30-9 and then get going (we are all usually showered and ready to go when we wake him up though). So the earliest ADR that works for us is usually 9:30-10.

We are doing a later dinner at Cali Grill that night though... so maybe we could make it work. I just hate to spend the whole day at AK eating... kwim.
