So I have read the average travel times to the various parks based on busing from AK. Do the buses stop at other resorts or is it a straight shot from AK to each park? Trying to figure out if we would have an easier time with a car versus buses.
I assume you mean Animal Kingdom Lodge not the theme park? Buses from AKL are never shared with other resorts so they always go straight to their destination. They do make two stops at AKL, one for Kidani Village and one for Jambo House. Buses going to theme parks stop first at Kidani then Jambo, buses for Disney Springs are the opposite.
There's an entire DIS forum dedicated to transportation questions, but if your concern is the length of time AKL is very close to AK and not so close to the other parks. Generally when the question of car vs bus comes up, posters are advised to bus to Magic Kingdom and drive to the other parks
We've stayed at AKL and Kidanj numerous times. We love the transportation. We never waited long for a bus any of the times we went and it doesn't share with any other resort. It does pick up Kidank first and then the main lodge jambo.

We love the transportation at AKL, too. We've only stayed at AKL twice, but visit every trip to eat at Boma and we have never had any trouble with the buses. We have found it to take maybe 5 extra minutes to get around compared to other resorts .
I just got home from AKV and the buses were so good! Never had a problem or very long wait. I love that there's a board with times of upcoming buses. (Was in Kidani)
