I was wondering where you go when you get to AK at opening. On our last 2 trips, we are in the minority turning right and heading for Dinosaur. Most of the crowds are continuing straight to the Safari. What do you do?

This is the 1 park we've yet to really come up w/ a real plan for. We don't do this park every trip. We try to save it for our off season trips. As it's easier to navigate when it's less crowded. We always make it to the safari within the first 90 minutes. However, we've done Dinosaur and ITTBAB first. Then made our way back there. We've never waited more than 20 minutes either.

We follow the guidelines a CM gave us a couple years ago. We head to Safari and pickup a fast pass. Then we head over to see the Festival of the Lion King. The first showing of the Festival of the Lion King is never, ever full -- even during that dreaded week between Christmas and New Years. By the time we get out of Lion King, it is time to go use our fast pass.

Works everytime!

I always see the animal attractions in Africa and Asia first thing while they're still active in the early morning, so the Safari is usually my first stop.

that is what we do, too. We usually have the twins (granddaughters) with us and they want to see the animals..this time, my 13 yro DGD and I are taking her best friend and her family with us to WDW and they have never been so we are definately going to be going to the Safari first...Early Entry if at all possible.

Maybe with everyone doing Safari first then Dinosaur would be the way to go (after getting FP from Safari)

Dinosaur first (picking up FPs for Bug on the way)...
we do Dinosaur twice..
by this time, Kali is open so we head over there for two times around...then the maharajah trail.....

then to festival of the lion king, which in our experience, you can always get into no matter what show it is...

then to africa to pick up FPs for safari (usually with a window in about 20 minutes)....then we sit down for a snack....by then the window is open and we go on KS......then on the pangani trail.....then tarzan rocks......then bug.....and then home....

We always do Donald's breakfast before the park opens. Our timing is usually perfect for finishing breakfast as the parks opens. Since we are already near Dinosaur, we hit that twice and TS many, many times before heading out to the rest of the park.

I go straight to Dinasaur, then Primevil Whirl, then TTBAbug, then fast pass for safari, then the jungle trek, then kali and then my fast pass is ready for safari, lol. I can't stand waiting in line too long:)

we do AK over two mornings. It just gets too hot in this park to stay past noon. Usually the first morning we head to the Safari, grab a fast pass then walk to Pagani Trail. Then we do safari, catch a snack and see the second Lion King Show.

The second morning we head to the right and do Dinosaur, Primeval Whirl and the attractions on that side of the park. We sprinkle in ITTBAB and Flights of Wonder where we can.

I think this will be our strategy when Expedition Everest opens as well, except we may grab a FP for Dinosaur on the way to EE.

We do the same...for the same reasons. We've also noticed that right after a good afternoon rain shower, the animals are exceptionally frisky. It's the best time to see them!

We also head to Dinosaur first. We are usually able to ride it twice in a row with no wait. We then head over to Prim Evil Whirl from here we head to Asia and walk the trail and watch the Gibbons and if it is warm enought ride the Ripids. We then cath the Flights of Wonder Show and then onto Africa where we get a FP for the safari and walk the Gorilla Trail then use our FP to do the safari. We then send some quality time walking the Discovery Island Trails just enjoying everything.

safari first - the animals are more active and not all bummed because of the mid day heat.
