We are a family of five. Our three dds are 11, 9 and 7. We have stayed in both 1 and 2 bdrms off site, only the 2 br on site. Not sure if Savanah view is worth giving up the extra space a 2nd br provides. Also not sure if a second bdrm is worth giving up the Savanah view! Assuming we have a choice at the seven month mark...what do you recommend? We are pretty sure we want Kidani if that makes a difference.

How many days are you going?

I would go with a 1 bedroom in Kidani with the savannah view, that would give you 2 bathrooms.

How many days are you going?

Eight nights in November.

Btw: just asked dh which view: parking lot or animals? His response:"parking lot....you will never know if you are going to see any animals. But someone will always be in the parking lot!"

As PP asked: How Long?
Have you stayed at AK before?

If a short trip & you have never stayed at AK before I would vote for the Savannah view, otherwise with 3 active kids I may push for the 2BR.

We stayed in savannah view our 1st trip and loved it. However, our next trip we are going with standard view to save points (for another trip). We have to have the 2BR due to family size (6).

We decided that there are so many great viewing places for the animals that we will still have ample opportunities. Also, our 2 DD 10 & 8 are mature enough that we will trust them to walk down the hall together to the nearest windows (where ever that is) for a few minutes if they are ready ahead of us.

If you request pool side there is a better chance that maybe you will get a view that is better than the entry/bus areas too.

Good luck & have fun!

I would go with the Savanna view. I love being able to get up 1st thing in the am and see the animals and also in the evening.

I'm going to go with the 2BR (our choice for Jan so maybe I am biased ;)) I think you will appreciate the space more often then the animals. Unless you are people who spend a lot of time in your room..maybe then you would like the animals more. The 2BRs are awesome and I don't think you would be disappointed...and, like a PP said, just request a pool view! :goodvibes

I also would go with the 2 bdrm. I love having the bedroom to put the kids to bed and still be able to use the living room and kitchen. We stayed in a standard room and would walk to the public viewing areas to look at the animals. It was nice to be able to talk to the CM's too as they were very informative about the animals.

A 2BR at Jambo would get you a pool view at the least or you could score one of the recategorized savanna views.

Kidani has the advantage of that extra bathroom. With 3 girls, I think that trumps Jambo.

My vote is a 2 bedroom standard view at Kidani. There are TONS of places to go view the animals at both Kidani and Jambo. Most of them with better views than a lot of the rooms.

Since you are going for 8 nights, you'll appreciate having more space to spread out, rather than trying to cramp in.

Imagine it: You and your husband in a bedroom, and your 3 girls in the living room...Two on the sofa bed, one on the sleeper chair. That's the only way that works in a 1 bedroom.

Now if you are in a 2 bedroom, you and your husband in the master. One girl on each queen bed and another in the living room on the pull out chair or sofa. Plenty of space to spread out.

Finally, the 2 bedroom will also get you an extra bathroom. With 4 girls going, that extra bathroom can save you tons of time in the morning.

If you were only going for 4, maybe 5, nights or less then you might want to get the savanna view. But with 8 nights, and everyone right on top of each other like that, everyone will definitely appreciate the ability to spread out and have some personal space.

I would go with the 2 BR over the savannah view. We did savannah view once and thought it wasn't worth the extra points. There are so many places to go see the animals it just wasn't needed. I'd rather have the extra space.

Unless you plan to hang out in your room most of the time watching the animals (?) I would definitely choose the 2 Bedroom. You can view the animals better from many other public spaces...

For our family's trip last year (2 adults and two teenage boys), I gave everyone the same question--1 bedroom savannah or 2 bedroom standard. They all voted 2 bedrooms. While we had bathroom overkill, I'm glad we made that decision. The previous year we took a 1 bedroom at SSR, and getting the boys up and making that couch was a pain in the butt.

Oh, and btw, it was so cold that trip, we didn't even use the balcony. lol.

Another vote for a 2-bedroom at Kidani.
The extra space makes a HUGE difference.
The animals are everywhere...

Thanks everyone. You all make the choices seem so clear. I will be calling tomorrow to see what is available.

I would pick the 1 bedroom savannah view at Kidani. Animals are everywhere, but there's nothing like seeing them from your rooom. We got into our room at 11 PM last Thursday and there were so many animals eating right outside our window. That late, we never would have thought to go look at the animals before going to sleep. A 1 bedroom with the 2 full baths would be my choice for sure.

i'm going to have to say "ask your family" do you guys care more about space or the view. i'm' guessing from the ages that you listen that the extra space is a bit more important!! LIke someone else said, you'll see animals all over the place! i say 2 bedroom!

I called today and wait listed for 2 br value at Jambo(couldn't resist the lower pts) (and that we could go for an extra day) and a 2 br standard dedicated at Kidani. My kids actually voted for the one br Savanah view, but I know everyone will be happier with their own space. I think if there were no public viewing spots it would be different. If the wait list does not come through, we will still have SSR to enjoy.

Thank you all for your opinions!

I've read in other threads that Disney imposes space restrictions. For example, a studio can only have 4 people, no more, unless the 5th is under 3yr. I thought I'd also read the same about a 1-br, that they only allow 4 people in those. Does each site have different rules?
