We woke up early, and felt sad to be leaving today. I called to see if we could get into Chef Mickey's for breakfast, but all ressies were booked, so we went down to the food court after dressing and packing up our last items. After breakfast, we went back to the room before officially checking out, just to sort-of say goodbye. Mom's balloons were still there, the ones she got from the CR for her birthday. We went out on the balcony, made wishes, and let them go, one by one. (I realize some people may object to this, but oh well.) As we made our wishes, we watched each balloon go higher and higher until we couldn't see them anymore. which took a good 15 minutes. My wish was more of a prayer of thanks, because this was the best time I ever had, and I enjoy being with my children more than I enjoy being with anyone else in the world. And I did wish that we'd be back to WDW soon, together, and keep it as a tradition.

The CM came for our luggage, loaded them up, and took them to storage. We took one last look at our room, which I think was 4646 on floor 10, and we took the elevator down to the bus level. We went to Downtown Disney and headed for Disney Quest. It was about 11 AM, and our limo from Southern Elegance was scheduled to come for us at the CR at 4:30.

This was our first time at Disney Quest, and boy did my kids have a ball. We liked it that the elevator, right at the beginning of entering the place, was an attraction in itself. I didn't realize how big DQ was, even though I knew it was 5 floors. Jesse was in heaven with all these games, especially with the old school arcade games. Jesse and I went on the Make Your Own RollerCoaster, and I laughed and screamed so hard, it was hilarious, because our rollercoaster went upside down so many times. I was very sleepy, not having had much sleep the night before, and after about an hour there, I just needed a place to sit and relax in peace for a while. On one of the upper floors, there was the Cheesecake Factory, so I got myself a cup of tea, a healthy (meaning big) sized piece of cheesecake, found a comfy chair with a computer right there on the table in front of me, and I went into the alpha zone. Mom stayed with Jesse, because I didn't feel comfortable with him being there somewhere on his own, since Chad was doing his own thing, I wrote a few e-mails, posted on the Dis about not wanting to go home, and nodded off. I really needed a rest.
After a while, Mom came back with Jesse, because they were hungry. and so they went up another level and got hotdogs. Chad was already up there, so the three of them came down to where I was, and they took turns sending e-mails. WE sat there for 30 minutes, and then I told them if they want to play more, they should do it now, since time was flying by and we had to be back at the CR for pick-up soon. So off they went, and I stayed in that oversized leather chair that you'd find in a millionaire's library. At 3:30, I called Chad on his cell, and called home the troops. We left DQ, went back to CR, claimed our luggage, and sat by the entrance on super cool chairs to wait for the limo. I had one of our mugs in my carry-on bag, so Chad went to fill it for us to share. We had a CM take a few picures of us, and then the limo was there right on the dot. It was the same guy who picked us up, George, and he put our bags in, asking how we enjoyed our trip.

First, we had to drop mom off at the Greyhound Bus Station, since she wasn't a flyer and had a 6:30 ticket for NYC. We got there about 5:30. George drove very slowly, and we appreciated it, letting us enjoy our ride and giving us more time together. When we got to the atation, mom told us not to get out, it would be easier to say goodbye quickly. She shed a few tears, and George walked her into the building. She had no luggage except for her carry-on, because I was taking all the luggage with me on the plane. We were crying and carrying on as if we were being separated for life, but we'd see her tomorrow when we picked her up from the Port Authority back home in Manhattan!!

Then we went to MCO. We unloaded, did curbside check-in, said we'll see you again sometime to George, and went inside the terminal. Our Song flight didn't leave until 7:30, so we had a little time to get our traditional Nathan's, make a few phone calls, and then we boarded. We were in the front of the plane, row 5, but we were zone #2, and called second after 1. We liked the TVs in the headrests, especially the music trivia games that we played with other passengers. Jesse and I were kicking butt, and it was tons of fun. I'd taken a Xanax before boarding to curb my flight anxiety, and it worked very well. It was a good thing, because we hit foul weather on the way home, which made for a very turbulent flight. It was unsettling, especially when we could see lightning all around us up there. I wasn't terrified, but just wanting it to be over already. I noticed on the flight map that our plane turned around and was heading south! OMG I thought we were heading for DC or something, not able to land in NYC because of the weather. But the captain in his knowledge and wisdom was just circling in a wide descending spiral in order to get us out of the rough air, as he called it. It worked like a charm. I have such faith in, and respect for, the competence of the Song crews. The flight attendants kept us laughing the whole time, and were especially attentive to children.

I managed to sleep for the last 30 minutes of the flight, which was behind schedule a good 45 minutes. we didn't get into JFK until about 11 PM. It was pouring rain, and there were backed-up flights coming in right after one another, so the luggage handlers had their hands full. All the bags were soaking wet as they came off the carousel, and it took a long time for them to come. We must have waited more than a half hour, which was torture for me, because I really needed sleep at that point, so much so that it was making me nauseous. Finally, DH, who by the way was waiting right there for us as we came down the escalator, with a big smile and hugs for us, and the kids had our bags, and we went out into the downpour to the car. We only live 15 minutes from Kennedy (JFK) airport, so we were home in a jiffy. We dropped the luggage on the floor when we got into the house, tore off our wet clothes, washed up, and went to sleep. Chad and Jesse fell asleep as soon as they got into their beds, and so did I. DH tells me that I was talking in my sleep about the trip, but I have no memory of it.

The next morning, we ran to the one hour photo store and had out pics developed for $120. And then later on, at 6 pm, we picked up mom at the bus station. She said she couldn't believe it all really happened, that it wasn't just a magical dream.

My next mission, since I have now officially finished my trip report, is to scan and post my WDW pics!! I have to get Chad to help me, since he knows all about this stuff. I hope you'll want to see my pics, even though they're from 3 months ago!

Thanks for reading!
