AirTran's Policy re: Fare Reductions?

To me it sounds like there IS no set policy at AirTran for doing refunds! Some of us got them at no charge, others paid $10 and at least one person paid $15 per ticket. Others were told they just couldn't get a refund at all.

I think the conclusion is that if you don't get someone on the phone who will do the refund for you for free (no phone charges) then hang up and try again until you DO get someone who will do it that way. I guess I was just lucky that I got a refund with no phone charges the very first time ever that I called AirTran to ask.

You bought non-refundable tickets and they are giving you credit for the price difference (minus change fees of course). Not sure why the :headache: applies?

I'm sure we are all happy to get any refund at all. The :headache: or  is for the hit or miss way that they apply the fee.
But, having said that, I understand that the fee is for the transaction taking place via phone. Well, there is no other way to request a refund. If I could have done it online, I would have. I didn't even bother to ask them about the fee. Maybe I could have convinced them not to apply it.

Wow...I just got off the phone with AirTran and got myself a nice credit. We booked 2 tickets from DFW to MCO in may and paid $1094 then.... the price dropped to $814 so I called and got a $250 credit. The lady on the phone was very nice and said that they are now charging a $15 per person fee to do it but for me it was well worth it.

I also asked if we can use the credit to upgrade and she said yes when you arrive at the gate if there is open seats to let them know that you have the credit and you can use it.

I don't understand why everyone thinks you should get money back if the price goes down? What if the price goes up should you pay the airline the new price?

Personally once I book I quit looking at the ticket prices.

Me too. I bought my AirTran tickets the day they were released for our travel dates and I paid $88/person/flight (+ $5/person/flight for seat assignments). So, I paid a total of $621 for our 3 N/S R/T tickets. I am happy with that and don't feel the need to keep checking the prices. But, I guess if I'd paid alot more then maybe I'd be more inclined to keep checking .....

It's not that I think I SHOULD get money back if the price goes down, but if their policy is to give it back, then why the heck not.:thumbsup2

The only reason I am noticing the price change is because AirTran is changing the schedule so much that I need to check almost daily.
