Just out of curiosity, I looked at the seating chart for our flight on October 25. We purchased assigned seats so I am not worried about that. I am curious, though....there are only 17 seats in "coach" (not including the exit rows) that are thus far unassigned. It is a 3/3 configuration and there is one middle seat showing available so I assume that the other middle seats are actually chosen, not set aside. Does this mean that there are only the 23 coach seats and 12 BC seats that have not been purchased? Do they "assign" a seat when someone buys a ticket without pre-selecting their seat?
I am crossing my fingers that we can purchase the business class upgrade at the gate. That will be the ONLY time we EVER fly anything besides coach. If the plane is really that full, or fuller if seats have been purchased and not assigned, I'm thinking I haven't got a chance at buying that upgrade.
By the way, to do that upgrade, does it have to be at the gate or can you purchase it when you check in online 24 hours in advance?
(EDITED: I just checked the AT website and I CAN upgrade at the 24 hour mark ONLINE!) We're spending the night before our flight near the airport so I could even go and check in in person if that's what it takes to get that upgrade. I like the 2/2 seating so that I can put the girls in a row together (across the aisle from me and my friend) so they can share a DVD player. Right now, we are sitting 2/2 (Window/middle) one in front of the other. One of the girls will have to watch movies on the laptop with this configuration.
In all reality, I could care less where we sit....WE'RE GOING TO DISNEY WORLD!!
