OK-so I am looking to book a flight with AirTran. I ususally go with Southwest but this is a combo deal priced vacation that is a very good price and AirTran is the carrier. I know they charge 20 bucks a checked bag but what else can you guys tell me about your experience with them-good, bad, ugly, bring it on. I just want to be sure it is worth it - thanks in advance guys!!!

I find they mess around with their schedule a bit. My non-stop was changed into a stopover at BWI. Also, to get a seat assigned you need to pay extra.

I would fly with them again .. if the price was right.

we haven't flown with them, but will be in feb, direct out of hali and return i scored the 4 seats for 2100ish. i booked back in july once i saw seat prices going up.

we were told by our ta that there weren't any bag fees tho. now i gotta double check!

I think you might be thinking of Air Transat. They fly out of Canada. Air Tran is out of the US :)

Flew AirTran out of Buffalo last March. No major issues. It's a pretty basic plane - no entertainment and nothing fancy but got us there. We were delayed but there was horrible weather in Florida so guessing this was the cause. I would not hesitate to book again with a great price.

Well South west just bought Airtran.

I have heard nothing good about airtran, "The Disney Dudes" podcast, had one episode that was a taping of a trip with Air tran.

I have no idea if anything has changed now that south west has taken over, as southwest has a very good reputation.

That is good news-thanks for this post because another thing I worry about is smaller airlines going out of business!

We fly Airtran every chance we get. Yes, we've had flight times changed slightly, but you get that with most airlines. We have never had a bad experience and find them to usually be quite a bit cheaper than other options in our area. We live 5 minutes to an airport and they fly out of there, so it fits for us. The charging for advance seating just started not too long ago. We just wait for the 24 hour window and go online to get boarding passes and choose our seats at that time. I'd say, don't worry about your upcoming flight.

We haven't had any issues with Air Tran other then flight time changes and have flown with them lots of times - most recent being in October to Orlando and next one in December to San Juan. We should each have enough flights to upgrade to buisness class on our way home from san Juan too!!

We are flying Airtran for my daughter's MAW trip next month. I have only flown once, and it was Southwest. I like this thread, it may help me! Glad to know, no real complaints!

We have flown AirTran, Detroit to Orlando many times each year for the last 5 years and never had an issue that would prevent me from flying with them again.

We have flown Air Tran with no problems. Yes, they tried to change our flights but, instead of confirming the changes, I called and said it didn't work for our family w/ younger kids. She put us on a flight that would work. Other than that, I don't think they're worse than anyone else. In fact, I have been happier w/ AirTran & Southwest than whenever I've flown on the 'majors" (we did American to DL last fall and they trashed dh's suitcase to the point where it had a baseball-sized hole in it!).

Love them! Flown with them out of Detroit and Buffalo and doing it again next month!:santa:

we're flying with them in the summer to London.

Mom gifted us our flights for all our birthdays and christmas. she also upgraded the 3 of us to club class so i'm guessing we won't have a problem.

i can't wait becuase i'm only flown first class once on a return flight from LA - over night becuase it was the only seat on the plane available when i paid with points.

since it was an over night flight i didn't see the point to it since we couldn't take advantage of actually being in first class - but this time we will :)

We're flying airtran in January for our first trip to WDW. If they change flight times, when would we find out? How is this done?

Kurby,

I think you are thinking of Air Transat, not AirTran which is an entirely different airline. AirTran does not fly to England or London Ontario if that's the London you meant.
