AirTran - Uncomfortable Seats

We flew back from Orlando to Boston the other day and both my wife and I had still necks. I don't know if the seats are pitched a different way or what. I know there are no headrests. But we flew down on JetBlue with a connection on Southwest and both of those seats seemed fine. Anyone else think the AirTran seats are uncomfortable?

I didn't think they were any more uncomfortable than Delta's but I'm never comfortable in standard airplane seats.

They don't seem any more or less comfortable from any other airlines seats.

Airtran seems fine to me, we used them for our last two trips. :confused3

Seemed ok but on the way down my seat back would pop when I leaned forward or sat back & I only weigh 132 lbs. I guess it was a bit worn. I flew US Airways back in April & their seats were'nt any better.

I liked airtran's service to/from Boston (all staff members were very nice, the captain joked around with us and the flights were good), but I hated the seats - Something about them threw my back off and I counted down the seconds for the flight to land an hour into it both times I flew with them (once was in Sept, the other in Jan - the SW flights I took on that trip gave me no such issues.) So, you're not crazy, nor are you alone.

I usually fly SW, but also have no issue with other companies. My theory as to what happened: the legroom was smaller than what I was used to and I recall on one trip, the person in front of me was jamming their seat into my knees. Also, there was some sort of small metal box on the floor in the under-seat storage area both times. My luck.

Are you and your wife tall?

I noticed when we flew Airtan this past July that the larger plane had nicer seats. The seat backs were taller on the larger plane, and were made different that the seats on the first, smaller plane we were on.
