AirTran Steps Up

I live in Canada and usually fly with Airtran out of Detroit. I just found out about Flint and am excited re flight timesas you mentioned...gives me almost an extra day at WDW!

It is a 4 hour drive for me so I always stayover at a hotel...any recommendations?

Thanks!

Pretty much anything located in Gateway Center (Holiday Inn, Courtyard, Residence Inn, etc.) is OK. I believe HI has an airport shuttle. Some of the others may have them, as well. If you'd like, I could make some calls to find out. We've stayed at Courtyard and some family members stayed at HI. We were both happy with our accomodations. You could check out www.bishopairport.org for more ideas. If I can help you with anything, just let me know.

Thankyou so much! I need a nice hotel with a shuttle and parking for 2 weeks. If you hear of any good reviews I would be very appreciative!:thumbsup2

Will go check out your link.

Thanks a bunch.

...On a side note, just so you know, it absolutely drives me crazy when people call and ask me to bend the rules, and then when I just do my job, and enforce the rules, they ask/demand to go "above me" to get what they want.

I always think that I would NEVER talk to someone the way some of our clientale speak to me. If someone told me "these are the rules; it will be x amount of dollars," I would never try to pressure them into bending the rules or ask to speak to someone else until I get what I wanted...

I totally understand how it can be really frustrating when people call and are rude and demand a supervisor...but in this case, I think OP was right to do this. He would have taken the non-stop flight to start with if it was on the website. If you are speaking to someone who is not authorized to do something you are asking for, what is the harm in nicely asking for someone else. Obviously it was within AirTran's control to make the change at no charge, and they now have the goodwill of that customer who will probably use them in the future. Congrats to OP for getting the flights you wanted.

I totally agree. I don't understand why companies do allow this sort of change but don't allow their reps to make the changes. I think either it should be okay or it shouldn't be.

It makes me mad that my satellite service can lower my rates if I call and beg or threaten to cancel. Why not just have everyone at the rate they can afford to run the service for. If they didn't offer service for 9.99 a month to new customers then they probably wouldn't have to charge loyal customers as much as they do. Plus if they just put their best rates out there and let the chips fall where they may - then there would be a lot less switching every year by customers to go to the next provider offering a lower start up cost....

Congrats to Airtran for breaking the posted rules for the fare terms to which you agreed? I can't wait to hear what your reaction will be when they eliminate that flight and you want a change...

I don't understand why it isn't reasonable to call and ask an airline to switch you to a flight that was not available when you booked 2 days earlier. That seems like a reasonable request to me. The flight was still the same price and it was an easy switch to make. If they eliminate the flight then he will be entitled to change to a schedule that is better for him. There will be no need for him to complain.

Airtran has pretty good customer service and they have won my loyal business b/c of this.

Delta on the other hand - never does anything out of goodwill for their customers. My dad is flying them soon and they changed his original flight by 10 minutes. May not seem like a big deal except it made it possible for him to connect an earlier flight in Atlanta so he would have a 45 minute instead of 3 hour layover. But they won't switch him to the earlier flight - despite the schedule change on their part. Airtran wouldn't blink about the change and this is why they will have happier customers than Delta.

wow....we had a medical issue w/DD this month that required us to change flights...had doctor letter, documentation..anything that the airline would need to see. Spoke to 4 different people at Airtran, all of whom said no, the $75 fee would be charged. I needed to change our flights to 2 weeks later, not cancel them outright.
Glad they accomodated you, just wish we would have had the same luck. Fortunately one leg of our trip was booked on Southwest and that was changed with compassion immediately by SW. Guess which carrier is my first choice now?

what's up with the sarcasm pp? and I thought almost all major airlines charged for bags now? or am I mistaken? in my own experience,AT has always been the best on time service ever..... JB has better seats, but AT is always on time! and even with 15.00 for a bag,it's still way cheaper than SWA where we are!
