Airtran seating questions

We've never flown Airtran, I'm trying to understand their seating policy. When buying a ticket online, you have a choice of selecting your seats, right? Is it $5 extra for any type of seat, including the "extra legroom" seats?? If I want to wait, do I still have the option of seat assignment at online check-in? Is there a cost at that point? Thanks.

Not all seats are available for advanced purchase. Some have been booked by other passengers and others are just held back by the airline to release later. Most seats that they do release for advanced seating are $5 pp, however exit row seat are sometime $15 pp. I have never seen a bulkhead seat available for advanced purchase with their new advanced seating option.

Yes, you can check in beginning at 24 hours before your flight and choose seats at no additional cost at that time.

When you search for available flights on AirTran's web site, there is a little seat icon to the right of the flight details. If you click on it it will show you what seats are available and unavailable, including the cost if they price the exit row seats higher for that flight.
