Oh my, I have been waiting for Airtran to open up flights for June. Well checked today and they are booking for June 1st for $289 one way:scared1:. Just about everyday from Jan- June runs $62 each way, at least they opened up that way. We really need to fly, we have a bunch of travel funds we can use. WOW, hope they drop.

Keep a close eye on them. Their prices have been all over the place, but seem to be high at first. They should come down, especially if it isn't a holiday travel time.

I am traveling at spring break and got decent fares with them not long after the flights came out, just watch them like a hawk and be ready to buy.

They will drop. Airtran always seems to open new dates at really high rates. Giive it a few days and keep checking.

Thanks everyone, I check several times a day. Also odd is they only opened up about 4 days worth of flights past what they were already booking. I hate playing this game. We flew with them in October and loved them. The airport is about 15 min from my house compared to driving an hour before to get a non-stop flights to Disney. Allegiant also started flying out of the same airport but they have switched back to Stanford.

I TOTALLY hear you!

I have been checking every single day for June fares. Just saw that they have posted June 3, which is our departure date. For $330 ONE WAY! :scared1: That exact same ticket in May is $67. Um, NO THANKS!

I do know when American first posts their flights the prices are insane. Almost like they just slap a default number in there as a place holder. I will keep checking AirTran, but if we had to buy our tickets tomorrow I think we would end up on SW.

It appears that they are just preparing for the release of their summer schedule. Unless their are major cutbacks in flights, their entire schedule isn't currently loaded into system.

They only opened up for one week that is why at first I thought they were going to stop service out of Lexington. They only fly out of Lex a few days a week now so I hope they don't cutback too much. I flew with them in Oct. and watched fares all last spring waiting on flights to open up. It has been the pattern here to open up flights at the $62 mark and then raise from their. Bummer:rolleyes1

Like others are saying, keep an close eye on the rates. Before I booked our flights, the price went up and down several times. It almost always went down during mid-week before going back up again on the weekend. I booked and then the next day, it dropped again. :confused3. I called and got a credit to my AirTran account that I can use for baggage.

Wait it out for a little bit and the rates will probably drop. Then, once they do, keep watching to see if you can get a credit.

When will the Southwest purchase of AirTran go into effect? Seems this would have an impact on pricing.

Well my price for June 1st dropped to $62 today, but I really need them to open up flights for our return June 12. I have credit for SWA also and was going to fly down with them and back with Airtran. How long will this go on.

i have been checking every single day for MONTHS now for our return flight in March. Haven't seen any deals at all. Now today there's a banner ad on this site saying "ALL destinations on sale" -- it's for our time period, and we don't fall in the blackout dates and....... the price is the same it's always been ($168 one way). :confused3 How is that on sale if it's the same as always -- am I missing something?

Why not grab the $62 while you can and take Airtran down and SW back instead?

That sounded great to me but SW back is triple what going down. We want to go down on Wed and come back on a Sun. I am telling ya this is killing me

Our flight DFW to MCO is now $116, same as American. Return flight June 18 is still not posted. ANY DAY NOW, AirTran! Take your time!

Unless AirTran is SIGNIFICANTLY less we will fly American.
