Airtran price change question

I thought i had seen this before but can't find it. I happen to check our flight again and it seems it has gone about $48 total. Can I call airtran and will they give me a credit for the difference? If so can I use it to pay for baggage? The chance of me actually using it to fly anytime soon is slim but would LOVE to save the money for baggage! Thanks

You can call and they will give you the credit to your A+ account. I am not sure about using the credits for baggage from first hand experience but I heard that if you check in on line you probably can use them and if you check in the the airport it is hit or miss depending on whether or not the person helping knows or is willing to use the credits for you.

Ok I called. Got the credit. They said I could use it on seat assignments, no problem. She said you can try for baggage but it is more difficult because you have do to it at the airport and then they have to call airtran and get it credited somehow.

So I am definitely using $24 of the $48 credit for seats and then will try to apply the other $24 to luggage.
