Hi All,

We're headed to the world in September - our fares have dropped and I called AirTran to get a credit on my account for the flights.
I was told by one customer service agent that as long as I was logged in to my A+ rewards account I could use the credits towards checked bag fees, business class upgrade, etc.
I had to call back and was told by the other rep that in order to use the credits I had to CALL them to check in - I could not do it online if I wanted to use the credits for bag fees, etc.

Also, I need to make sure that if AirTran happens to change our flight times that they will let me book another flight with out a fee? If our times change DH and I are going to try to book an earlier flight :goodvibes

TIA!

Our flight times changed in October 2009 by about an hour. They allowed us to make a flight change without charge.

Thanks!
Let's hope AirTran changes our flight time then....that means more time with the mouse for me..haha! :cool1:

If they do move you to another flight, and you had already paid for seat selection, make sure they seat you on the new flight too. They didn't once for me. I had assumed they would but when I checked it online, we had no seats. I called right back and they were very nice. Even put the 6 of us in the same configuration that we had on our original flight.

thanks for the tip - I probably would have never thought about that!

So if you book on Air Tran, you can get a credit if they lower your fare? I did not know that one.

Possibly someone has figured this one out but we have never found a way to use credits towards bags coming from Disney. I researced this last year and the only way was to try and get a refund from the airtran desk at the airport. Also, I was told over and over not to check in online for our flight home. Was told if I had we could not use RAC desk. The RAC people were great, checked us in, took our luggage ( we paid for the bags then, RAC could not use our credit, they can not access Airtran system??). Going down was not a problem at all with using our credit for seats (both flights) or paying for our bags. Hope someone proves me wrong!!

i've been able to use credits @ PITT for baggage fees (although said fees were of the oversize bag type;)).

We just flew with Airtran and could not use credits during online check-in. We had to wait to check in at airport and pay for bags at the counter. I was told that the only way to use credits was at the airport. :goodvibes

We fly on AirTran several times a year and have used our credits for payment during online check-in. It shows up as "credit" on the payment options screen.

It does show up as a credit only if you are logged into your A+ account and the credit was placed into your A+ rewards account. You can have only one person per itenary for this option. Perhaps that is the reason some are not getting that option. If your credit is not in your A+ rewards account then you would have to pay for bags at the airport.

Yes, that's right. I didn't add the part about being signed in, because you would already need to be signed in to complete your check-in.

I have always been able to check-in and upgrade both my DH and me through my A+ account and use any credits we have to pay for the upgrades. (We usually have anywhere from $20 to $100 in credits due to fluctuating prices.) I make the reservations under my account, although he gets credit for his flight through his A+ account.

re airtran credits

fyi, during earlier part of last year AT was refusing to award credits for booked flights when the price dropped...i was unhappy re flight end of June last year that dropped in price. despite calling the rewards dept several times to complain I wasn't accommodated:mad:.

Many others reported the same experience:confused:, although since that time AT has provided credit when i requested it for price drops. Reverting to offering credits possibly was reinstated to help allign policies with SWA for eventual merger.:confused3just glad there isn't an issue any longer!

I didn't see an answer to this on the AT website. It just said they will charge you a $75 fee for any changes if you found a new fare??

Looks like between all our tickets it's about $40 which could cover most of our seat charges or our luggage!

Guess I feel weird calling on asking for the credit - any advice?

TIA!

Don't feel weird! If I were you, I'd call and request the credit. I've gotten a credit several times, and they've always been really nice about it. :)

Just got a $18 credit last week when prices dropped. I am planning to use to pay for I one piece of luggage

Prices dropped on our flights twice within 10 days of booking. I had no problem getting credits for all 4 RT tickets. The way the CS rep explained it is that they essentially "re-book" your flight. The system charges a $60 fee, but they take $60 off during the transaction so there is no fee actually charged at the end. I felt weird asking for the second drop since it was only $9...but x 4 RT tickets that's $72. :thumbsup2 She said it was no problem at all, they are happy to do it as long as Airtran is allowing it. I got email confirmations for both re-bookings but had a terrible time seeing them in my account...finally found it when looking at "account profile", at the bottom of the page.

I'd definitely call! :)
