Delta. A friend of mine flew Airtran once and when she didn't show up to the ticket counter 2 hours before her flight they sold her ticket to someone else. I don't think she ever got her money back. So I will never fly Airtran. But, that's just my opinion.
I would not fly either one. I don't trust Airtran(old valuejet) and unless I flying real soon, I would watch Delta due to their current money troubles. But thats just me

Delta will emerge from bankruptsy just as United is about to and American has done. They have restructured and will be fine, at least in the short term. There is nothing that will drive a company down quicker than speculation that they won't exist in the near future. I have booked my flights to Hawaii on Delta for August, the army has booked DH's flight to Texas so he can leave for Iraq and they aren't worried.

Delta being in Chapter 11 means NOTHING. Most of the legacy carriers have been in and out (and in again) of Chapter 11 since 2001. In fact United just emerged from Chapter 11 the other day.
I have a lot of Delta skymiles, but I also have no problem with AirTran. We've flown them many times and never had a problem. Airtran has a very young fleet with a lot of newer planes, and I believe they are one of the few airlines that's profitable these days.

That sounds really weird. Was it a case where the flight was overbooked and she was bumped because they filled the plane before she checked in? If so, AirTran should have put her onto the next flight.
I flew round trip from Atlanta to Dallas this past October on AirTran and it was okay. No frills, but for what I paid, I couldn't really expect any either. I would fly AirTran again to Dallas.

Thanks for your replies. I am going to go with airtran because their schedule will work better for me. Plus Delta's flights are close to being sold out so seating is limited. I flew Airtran to Vegas last year and was happy with my flight so I'm not worried about flying with them. Again thanks everyone for your replies.
I have flown both and couldn't tell a difference. Except this past trip I arrived in Knoxville without a piece of luggage ( non-stop flight). But they finally delievered it late the next day.
