Airtran online check in?

We booked flights on Airtran and paid to choose our seats. Do we still need to check in online at the 24 hours mark to keep our seats? We're flying out of a small airport, and we leave early Sat. morning.

You don't have to, but why not check in online to get it done? It makes that process at the counter that much easier and "if" they have to bump someone involuntarily, they go by when you checked in, among other things. I always check in online, even if I have bags to check.

Also, checking in online offers you a chance to pay for baggage ahead of time, which also speeds up the process.
