I have never flown Airtran...please fill me in. How do I get a seat assignment? Tell be about boarding (is it like SW or like USA/Delta/United). What about inflight services? Baggage ? ETC... Any experiences? Specifically we are going from Newburg(stewart) to MCO...we live in the Albany Area so I'm thinking about an hour to get to the airport...Thanks

Good to see you here, my former WPASADI teammate!

Airtran is a good airline. If you bought the cheapest fare, you will be able to select seats at check-in (which includes the online check in at the 24 hour mark). They board just like any other carrier that has assigned seating.... your seat assignment is on your boarding pass.... sw is the only one that has you load like cattle and find an open seat.

You get 2 free bags up to 50 pounds each... very standard.

Planes are 3x2 or 3x3 seating.

Entertainment is XM satellite radio. They offer complimentary drinks and a snack on board, no meal.

I flew them last October and would fly them again.

Have a good one.

I love Airtran. I think it is my favorite.
You can pick your seats 24 hours ahead when you check in online.
Boarding is like other airlines except SW. Board by rows.
Flight crew is very friendly.

You do have assigned seats on airtran whether you get the cheapest fare or the most expensive. The thing is you don't know what they are until you check in either online or in person. If you check in online 24 hrs in advance, you can see where your seats are and change them if you wish at that time.

I only flew airtran once but would not hesitate to fly them again.

I like Airtran, too. Planes are relatively new, their staff pleasant and professional and they fly out of the smaller, convenient HHH terminal.

That said, they are not my first choice (unles they have a really, really good price, LOL) because they tend to change their arrival and departure times quite frequently - more so than the other airlines that fly out of MSP, IMO.

We flew Airtran for the first time in January. We were very pleased and would fly them again without hesitation.

Thanks so much everyone(Hi Duds..good to see you !!!), WDW got me such a great fare that I could not resist trying out Airtran(617 for 4 rt ns...
unbelieveable..so I am excited)
I am staying at the Poy during out trip, so I guess they can print my boarding pass for me for my return trip. Thanks again.

This will be our 4th summer using Air Tran. It's always been a pleasant experience (knock on wood), never delayed and always on time! Let's hope we continue to be lucky THIS summer!
