I just booked Airtran for our upcoming trip in December. Three round trip tickets from Rochester, NY to Orlando for $390 total ($130 inc. taxes per ticket). These are for non-stop flights leaving on a Friday and returning on a Sunday. This is the best rate by far we have paid in the last five years.

Has anyone flown Airtran and if so can you tell me a little about your flights.

Thanks

Hi PeaPicker-from a fellow Rochesterian!

My DH & I flew AirTran last month (ROC to ATL, ATL to MCO, then MCO to ROC). We flew out on a Sat and returned on the following Mon for a quick weekend trip. This was our first experience with AirTran and I was very happy with the service. We left ROC a couple of minutes late, but made the time up in the air, so we did land on time. Coming back we left on time but made up some time in the air we so landed a few minutes early.

The flight crew was nice enough on the way down and was really friendly on the way back. We did opt to pay the addt'l $35/tix to upgrade to business class for the longer flight home. Since the return flight was pretty full we just wanted to relax and enjoyed the more comfy seats and the drink service, etc... The flight attendants were really nice to my DH after he spilled his drink (before the flight even took off) and joked with him, in a really friendly, kidding way, throughout the flight. They brought him lots of extra cookies, etc... We have our July flight booked with them and paid less than $425 for 3 r/t tics (me, DH & DS) so we are looking forward to traveling with them again.

HTH!

& WOW--I reached 1,000 posts-yeah!

DH & I flew AirTran last November. We didn't have any complaints and would fly with them again. :D

I've flown to Atlanta on Airtran and found them to be fine, but definitely no frills. With that being said, I am still using them to fly to MCO in a couple weeks for a trip back to WDW, so they must not be that bad.

Our experience with AirTran was amazingly similar to welovedis'! We flew down from Akron with a connection in ATL, then flew nonstop for the return trip. We also opted for the $35 business class upgrade on the way back and were treated great by the staff. The agent at MCO switched us to a nonstop flight at no charge. Overall it was a great experience and we would definitely do it again!

Only complaint I have about Airtran is they don't fly into RIC. (of course, Newport News isn't that far away)

Flown them many times with no problems. Definitely a no frills airline, but they've been converting their fleet over to the new Boeing 717 planes (they were the launch customer) over the last few years. They may still have some older DC9s or 737s in service, but I don't imagine they have many if they do.

Airtran has the best customer service and the best rates in town! I am already a loyal customer and I won't even be flying with them for another couple of weeks!:p

it's our first trip to WDW,trying to fly as cheap as we can. we would like to have more money for our stay at WDW!!!

Yes - they do fly out of Houston. Check out their website at

http://www.airtran.com/

They have great fares. We booked them flying out of Pittsburg in October for $136 per person.

It's great to hear all the positive reviews about them. My DH was a little nervous seeing as we've never heard of them before.
