Airtran Flight Change.. Cancel?

Hello I have read people mention re-booking with Airtran is easier than most. They have changed my flight by two hours not in my favor but now after checking I would prefer to book the same flight the day before. Is this an option?

What do I have to do to cancel my flights and re-book? (my flights are in November)

If I have to phone to do this, do I lose my free seat selection from going through Kayak?

Call Airtran. Say they've changed your flight time, and you'd like to change the flight yourself. They will do it. They've even switched airports for me.

I don't know what will happen to your selected seating.

You will still keep your seats - so you don't have to worry about that.

Call and ask them to switch you to the flight the day before.

I have had them switch airports for me in the past but I am finding they aren't so accomodating with that now - they have offered to waive the change fee but I would still have to pay the difference in fare if I go to another city.

If you booked through a TA, online or otherwise, and need to make a change, you cannot call Airtran directly. You need to make that change through your TA.

If you booked through a TA and looked up your reservation on the Airtran site, it will state that your flight was not booked directly with Airtran.

My flight going down was changed by more than four hours. We changed flights to ones that better made our schedule, but had to do it through our TA. Airtran at first tried to charge us the change fee plus the difference in airfare, but our TA got that waived, though it took several days.

Eh, not necessarily. I mean, not the same seats - if someone already on the flight to which the OP wants to change has already paid for and reserved those seats. The OP will still be able to select seats on the new flight - they just may have to select different seats.

Also, to the OP (in case it's not clear ) do NOT cancel anything. The airline will charge you for that. AirTran will, however - as stated above - allow you to change flights within reason if their schedule change isn't satisfactory.

If AirTran changes your flights, they assign you an alternate flight schedule. If your assignment doesn't work for you, check their schedule to see if there's anything that does. Once you have an idea which flight you'd prefer, simply call them and tell them your new flight doesn't work for you, but the XX flight will. They'll gladly switch you to that flight if seats are available at no charge. They don't charge you a change fee or the difference in fare. Nor do they refund the difference if the new flight you choose has a lower fare. If you had seat assignments on your original flight, you need to make sure the seats are rebooked. You won't get your original seats unless they are available. So be sure to check your entire reservation carefully.

I interpreted her as asking would she still keep her "free" seat assignment from Airtran.

I always make the changes with the agent and then go online and make sure I am happy with my seats and make changes if I need to. I find it hard to try to decide what seats I want with the agent.
