We bought our tickets last week, AirTran from Indianapolis 10/29 - 11/5. When I checked today I saw that the fares had dropped $40 per ticket (there are 7 in our group). Is there any way we can rebook? Does anyone know what AirTran's policy is? Thanks!!!!! :earsboy:AirTran fares dropped - now what?

Call them! They should credit you the difference. I know SWA does so since they compete with them I'm sure they'll do the same. It doesn't hurt to try anyway.
Go on their site to find a customer service number or email address to contact someone.

I do not think they will refund you the difference......they charge you $50 to change so unless the savings on ticket price is over $50 I don't think you can do anything.

AirTran won't do a thing. I called before when airfare went down. Your only option is to change your tickets with a $50/ticket fee.

airtran won't do a thing. I have 11 seats reserved at $79 each and now they are $49 each. Ouch that hurts. But with all the talk about high fuel prices and airfare on the rise I was afraid to wait much longer. At least I only booked are flight down to Orlando with Airtran, our return flights also dropped to $49 with Southwest so I now have a $330 credit with them.

I'm in the same boat. They dropped from $281 to $251 last week, so I booked 2 seats. Now it's $226.... We're going Thanksgiving weekend and I was afraid to wait. Also, SW just posted additional flights PIT/MCO, they are at $219.

I sent a note to AirTran last night with our confirmation number asking about rebooking at a lower rate. I got a note from them this morning, they rebooked our flights at the sale fare and gave us a $210 credit which is good for a year. I guess it pays to ask!

mjh8955,
Who did you contact about a credit? Our airfare has dropped $25 per ticket and would love to get a credit. I tried calling and was told I could not change rates unless I paid $50 per ticket, which wouldn't make sense in my case. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Lisa

I booked last week @ $89 a ticket (3 of us) and now it's $39. I called and they told me the same thing it's $50 per ticket to cancel. So in my case it would be $150 difference but same price to cancel. Is it worth cancelling or should I just keep my nonstop flight as is???

Just like mjh895 I emailed Airtran and they gave me a credit I could use within 9 months. I didn't expect to get one but gave it a try and was happily surprised! Oh, I did call first and got the same response everyone else has bee getting.
Good luck!~

i'm interested in emailing them is well but i don't know what to say. Since we are all getting the same response when we call "what" should I say in my email that would get me credit.

I sent a very nice email to Airtran regarding their non-stop service and requested a credit for the price difference. We ended up getting a $640 credit for our 8 tickets!!!!!
Thanks for the advice!!!! :cheer2: :cheer2:

Thank you so much. I just got my email w/ a credit for $288.00. :cool1: I emailed them a "Thank you" note and to confirm that it will be the same flight information. I'll keep you guys update w/ their response.

After AirTran rebooked our flights at the lower rate we checked again using our confirmation number on their websiste and the flights were all the same ones.

We were booked on AirTran for our upcoming trip and when the fares dropped I called and was told of their $50 flight change policy but was not offered any credit. However, they did drasticly change their flight times and was offered to cancel without penalty, which I did. I then rebooked on SWA which was still $40 per seat each way less so we ended up saving over $240 anyway.

Thanks AirTran for not offereing the credit!!! :rotfl2:

I just emailed airtran about getting a credit also. our flight dropped from 79 to 49. Just got a reply and was told sorry, they couldn't do anything and I couldnt get credit for the difference.
Oh well, it was worth a try. I guess the people who got credit had a lucky day!

Air Tran is advertising the big Florida sale for December, but no sale fare are appearing from Bloomington, Illinois on any date or any flight during the sale. I called Air Tran to try to find out why - they have no idea.

I don't know whether to wait (the sale ends Thursday the 25th) and hope they made a mistake and offer sale fares from Bloomington or go ahead and book now.

We have been watching those rates for over 6 months for a trip 10/29 - 11/05. When we saw news stories about fuel increases we went ahead and decided to fly out of Indy instead. Right after we got the tickets the prices dropped and we were able to get a credit by e-mailing AirTran and asking very nicely if we could rebook. I have a feeling that the Bloomington market is so limited that they don't see many special rates from there. I haven't seen any in all the time I've been watching, only increases. It is a very easy airport to fly out of; we like the free parking, the non-stop flight to Orlando and the fact that going through security takes about 20 seconds :) Good luck.
