Does anybody know why I can't find nonstop flights on Airtran out of Des Moines in June? The latest ones I can find are mid-May. Are they quitting them? They started it the month after our last trip and now the month before I might go again, they are quitting? Talk about bad luck. :confused3

Didn't find any news by Googling. Has anybody heard what's up?

I just checked, and the latest non-stop I saw out of DSM was beginning of May.

I wouldn't be surprised if they were quitting their non-stops out of DSM. My opinion is that we are a market that Airtran is not committed to. They yanked around my flights pretty good last May, to the point where I ended up flying back into Kansas City and renting a car on my own dime to get back to Des Moines.

It's too bad, because when I have flown with them they've been good...but their scheduling was too unreliable out of Des Moines.

Be sure to check out Allegiant. Not only out of Des Moines, but also out of Cedar Rapids. But note that while Allegiant flights out of DSM have been flying into MCO, they either have switched back to (or soon will) flying into Sanford (which is where Cedar Rapids flies to). We always rent a car, so flying into Sanford was actually really nice (smaller airport), but it's an extra expense to consider.

I haven't heard anything we just booked for January but I think it took them awhile to open those flights up for the direct weekend flights. Maybe they are waiting to see how their spring goes? I wonder if it has anything to due with Southwest purchasing Air Tran.

I would really hate to lose those flights it was the only way I was able to talk DH into flying instead of driving... (26 hours each way we've done it twice!!!! Sometimes straight through!!!!!:sad2:)

I did wonder if they would show up later. We'll see. Also, Airtran flies direct from the Quad Cities (Moline), which is just as far as KC but we could stay at my brother's house the night before.

We had nonstop flights booked on Air Tran last May. The day of our flight out of Des Moines they notified us that our return flight was now a two stop flight. We're now flying Allegiant. Yes Allegiant will fly to Sanford starting Feb. out of Des Moines.
