In order to get a credit from Airtran must your tickets exceed the $75 fee? I was told by our travel agent that in order to get a credit it must exceed the $75 change fee to be worth anything. Our tickets have dropped approx $60 per person from booking.

Thanks

I don't know if it's different because you booked thru a travel agent but i booked thru airtran and received 62.00 credit and just I used it for my August trip. They didn't charge me anything. call airtran and check.

One of my flights in November went down $14, so I called AirTran this morning and got a $14 credit. The $75 fee is if you change or cancel your flights.

Sounds to me like the TA doesn't want to bother making the change. However, to be fair, I'm not really sure what the procedure is when purchasing airfare from a TA since I haven't done so for years. I've found it's just much easier to make my own reservations online. That way, if the price goes down I simply go the airline website and make change myself and save the credit for a future trip.

I actually just dealt with this today on my own. I had purchased DD and DGS tickets for a November flight to Orlando about 2 weeks ago. This morning the flight from Pittsburgh to MCO went down $32 a ticket so I called Airtran and got the credit (you need to be an A+ Rewards member - just register on their site).
This evening, I booked their flight from MCO back to Pittsburgh and used the $64 credit. I did not have to pay the $75 change fee. That is just for actual flight changes, not cost changes.

If your ticket was $100 and you need to cancel it or change it, they charge you $75, so you'd have $25 to apply to the price of your new flight. If your flight is $60, then I'd imagine you wouldn't get a credit since there isn't enough to cover the $75 fee. You said the price has dropped to $60 since booking, but it only matters what you are booked at for the credit, not what it is currently.

If you mean you are keeping the same flight but wanting to get a credit because the flight is now less than what you paid, it needs to have dropped at least $75 or more for you to get a credit. For instance, if you paid $200 and the flight is now $125, you could get the credit. But if you paid $200 and the flight is now $150, they would not issue you a credit because it has to be at least a $75 difference for them to do that.

That is not correct. As I mentioned above, my flight dropped by $14, and I have a $14 credit to use in the future. AirTran does not charge $75 for a price drop on the same flight.

Correct. They will credit you ANY difference if you call...it doesn't need to be over $75.

I called and since I booked through a TA they told me I wasn't available for a credit for price drops.

Really? :scared1:

Another reason to always book with the airline directly I guess. That's too bad. I would think if you had your reseration number that Airtran wouldn't care how the ticket had been booked. Call back and try again without mentioning that you booked through a TA and see what happens.
