I apologize if this was posted already, but I was just checking to see what the limits were today as I'm still in the market for new luggage...and this is what the airtran website says:
Overweight Baggage
Overweight baggage rates are based on weight: $39 for bags weighing 51 to 70 pounds (increases to $49 effective October 1, 2009), and $79 for bags weighing 71 to 100 pounds. Baggage weighing over 100 pounds will not be accepted.

Oversize Baggage
Oversize baggage rates are based on overall dimensions (length + width + height): $39 for bags with dimensions from 62 to 70 inches (drops to $0 effective October 1, 2009), and $79 for bags with dimensions from 71 to 80 inches."
Just thought I'd pass this along. I apologize again if it is "old" news...
