Airtran changed my flight!

They moved us to a couple of flights that increased our travel time by more than 6 hours with layovers. Now I see that sw has multiple flights with much better timing through airtrans website. Will they let me switch to one of those flights? I know that they will let me change to another flight, but the sw flights are what I am not sure of.

Hand pick alternate flights, including nonstops and including on the partner airline (Southwest versus Airtran) you would like. Then telephone the original airline (here, Airtran) and make the request.

If they can do it at all (e.g. not sold out) then they should do it with no upcharge of any kind although it may take a little kibitzing from you.

Ok, I did that yesterday. They would not give me the sw flight, but the airtran.flight with similar times. It worked out, but if I weren't.so cheap.the checked bags wouldn't.bother me!
