Airtran changed my flight

I don't know whether to be happy or sad. They eliminated my nonstop flight from the schedule completely and all thats left is 1 stop flights. Thats the one big negative.

The positive is that I can now book an earlier flight BUT that earlier flight requires me to get up at 3am for a 6:25am flight.

The other bad thing is that I can't make the change myself since I booked through Disney. Disney has to make the changes for me.

Air Tran did tell me that I can switch flight times and even days at no extra charge. I did notice a flight on a Saturday that only had business class fares available and no coach fares even though the seating looks completely wide open. If I changed to this day and flight would they still honor the no extra fees policy. Also, I am assuming business class does not equal business class seating in the front.

You know they pushed back my august flight, 1 hour but I'm really getting worried. I'm still flying out relatively early (7:50 am) and it's non stop but all these horror stories of time changes has gotten me antsy.

Also they never sent me an email notifying me of the change, now I've been checking religiously but I really don't want to have to stress about this until August.

When are you flying?

They will rebook you but your ticket will usually show the same class that it originally had. They may or may not let you select seats if only business class seats are available. They may do this even if they make the coach cabin hideously overbooked while the business cabin shows a lot of availability. If there are no coach seats showing on the seat map and they let you select then you will be given coach seats from the allotment that is normally invisible and held back for boarding day assignment, and pay the fee applicagble to your original ticket.

I wouldn't mind if my nonstop gets cancelled and they let me do the 6:05 flight in September. I love getting there early. Airtran changed our flight time to a later one once and we almost missed our lunch ADR at Le Cellier. Lose my luggage if you must, but DON'T MAKE ME MISS LE CELLIER!!!:rotfl2::rotfl2:

Good luck with your new flight and have a great trip!:thumbsup2

I just kept the dates the same and selected the early flight since it was the shortest and got me there the earliest. Now we will get a 7 hour day at MK instead of a 2 hour evening. But man, I can't stand getting up that early. :)

What ticked me off was the fact they eliminated all nonstops to orlando from KC.

This is our first time with AirTran and I only booked cuz they were soooo much cheaper than SWA for our travel dayto Orlando !!I bit the bullet and booked us Non stop on SWA coming back !!!That has gone up $40 since I booked !!!!:scared1:

We got our AirTran flight moved up about an hour also. Lucky for us, it was to our advantage(less wait time at MCO). It is a little unsettling there are so many flights being changed.

I just discovered this morning that our flight TO WDW is now an hour later. Coming back the flight is 9 minutes later.

Of course they didn't notify me, and of course there isn't another flight that would get us there any sooner, so it is what it is.

Same here!! I only checked just now, because of your post and sure enough it was changed from 7:00 AM going from DFW to 7:59AM. :confused3. On the way back we were to return at 8:02 PM, and now it is 7:59 PM. Either way is not THAT bad but still.

One good thing is that I was able to change our seat locations for no additional charge. We had row 19 because that was the last row that was within the $6 price range, but now we are on row 17 which at the time was an up upcharge when we booked originally.

:confused3 Oh well! But thanks for posting because if it were not for your post, I would not have known.
:goodvibes

Any airline will notify the first-affected passengers first of any change. Passengers on flights two, two and a half, or five months from when the changes are made would (a) be notified in chronological order of flight departure / (b) may well find additional flight changes. Nonstops that 'disappeared' from the schedule could reappear (another reason the airline doesn't like to inform passengers too far out of any changes).

Nothing about which to worry :). Do check your flights regularly, but don't panic.

I am glad you were able to get better seats! :thumbsup2 They swapped out planes on us, so now there are only 2 seats on one side and 3 seats on the other side. Luckily I paid for seats on the side that has 3! Of course we are hoping to upgrade, but if we can't then at least we have seats together in coach.

I just booked Airtran today. At very least I have seen enough of these "Airtran changed my flight!" posts over the years that I won't be suprised.
When dh and I were trying to pick a time today I even said.. "It doesn't matter.. they're going to change it":rotfl:

Irritating but I am prepared. We have a 5 hour drive to the airport so I am going to go up the night before. Hopefully we will get to keep an early flight.

This is exactly what happened to us....and I felt exactly the same way...didn't know whether to be happy or sad! We were on the 1:11 non-stop (now cancelled) from KCI and have now switched to the 6:25 flight and will be getting up at around 3am also, planning to sleep on the plane! There was a 10 something flight but DD wanted the earliest we could get! Looks like we're headed down a few days behind you. I made the change directly with Air Tran with no problems at all. We have a non-stop coming back that has been moved back to a later departure time (love that!), but I keep checking to see if it stays. Have a great trip:goodvibes

Airtran ALWAYS changes my flight times.

Usually taking precious vacation time from me.....

I will only book Airtran if the price is a lot better than other airlines.

We had flown AirTran on our last three trips to WDW. Each time, our flights were changed, two of them significantly. Only on our first trip were we able to keep a nonstop like we originally booked. The next two trips, all nonstops were eliminated (Minneapolis to MCO). Our flight schedule was changed multiple times prior to each trip so we never really felt like we were "safe" until a couple of weeks before. I'm not even sure we were really safe then.

One thing to remember is that, unless they've changed their policy, they will only make a free change for you one time. I'd wait until closer to your trip to make changes. At least that way, you might stand a better chance of getting what you want without being disappointed again.

All that being said, we've always really liked flying AirTran. Their service has always been very good and flights very reasonable (relatively speaking of course). And those little cookie things they give out are awesome! They always packed my kids' pockets with them when we left the plane!

Since I first read this thread I've been checking my flight twice a day. :surfweb:

I'm kind of hoping they change the time on my flight out of DTW so I can ask to get on the earlier non stop flight they have. Getting to MCO at 2:10 is a lot better than arriving at 8:19pm! So far the only thing that's changed is my departure time leaving Orlando has been pushed back by 10 minutes.

What airport do you fly out of and how far in advance do they change your flight? We leave from PHL in about a month and so far our flights have not changed.
