Airtran cancelled my flight.... for tomorrow morning!!!

We were scheduled to leave at 710 tomorrow morning. Now we leave an hour later, granted it's not a big deal but seriously, you wait until the night before??? Grr. Then they weren't sure there were seats together but mysteriously... they found some.

There's a lot of weather around the country. They probably have planes and/or crews out of position, saw multiple flights at your airport they could condense, and voila - flight change.

There is a big difference between a pre-planned schedule change (cancellations months in advance) and cancellations due to weather, maintenance, or crew issues within 24 hours. The former is intentional to increase aircraft utilization, efficiency and profitability. The latter is unintentional, unplanned, and usually beyond the airline's control.

If they have to swap a plane with a different seating configuration or with people already on it, that messes everything up. Thankfully, I haven't run into "mechanical" problems in quite some time, but stuff like that happens.

Right! There are so many things that could contribute to a late minute cancellation, I wouldn't go into all of them (would take FOREVER ), but it doesn't sound like a typical last minute schedule change.

Glad they were able to get you on another flight!

Not true. I've never had a flight schedule change or cancellation with AirTran. So be careful when saying "always."

congrats, but im with the poster as to experience w/AT

have had many changes & some up to a day before (not a cancellation in that instance, moved flight up hour or so) still could be a very big issue if u don't check right up to flight time imo.

If they move a flight up without giving reasonable notice and then you miss the flight, then they have some responsibility in the matter.
