Airtran B side

I thought I recalled landing on the A side of terminal in Orlando and then had to take the train like vehicle over to B side, two years ago when I went down, but I think I read somewhere now airtran comes in the B side and now you just take stairs or escalators down to ME. can someone tell me for sure?

With the terminals in MCO terminal B (A is the same) the gates are out on arms from the main terminal. You land in to one of these gate and take a train over to the main terminal where security is then take an escalator down one level to baggage claim, down another or maybe even two to where ground transportation is located. So while it may have seemed like you landed in another terminal, you actually didn't. See this map of the terminals at MCO for a better idea.

i'm assuming the terminal is HUGE? We're going in November with DD7 and DS1 and I am wondering if we should bring a lightweight stroller for DS just for the airport..the last time I went to Orlando was over 10 years ago and all I remember about the airport is the train and waiting for our car rental lol..thanks for the help

It can be a chug through the airport terminal, but MCO isn't really all that bad. The train helps tremendously. There are many places to sit and rest along the way if necessary.

The monorails don't go from the A to B sides, they go from the Airside buildings (where the gates are) to the Landside building (where security, ticketing, baggage, transportation, etc are).

Getting from A to B is accomplished on Level 3, immediately after you get off the monorail from your gates. Just follow the signs for DME when you get off the monorail.

AirTran operated out of Airside Bldg #4. The monorail from Airside 4 connects to the B side of the Landside building, so you won't have to crossover to get to DME. Just take the escalator down to Level 1 as soon as you get off the monorail.

Once on Level 1, you will have to walk the entire length of the terminal to get to the DME desk. The terminal is quite long, so it will be a long walk for you once you get to Level 1; you'll pass all of the various rental car desks along the way.

Check out the sticky at the top of this forum, "A Newbie's Guide to Orlando International Airport." It has directions and maps that will help you understand the layout of the airport better so you won't have any trouble finding your way when you land.

For all airlines you get off the train (tram or monorail if you insist) and enter the main terminal (landside bldg.) "sorta" between the (its) A and B sides. Like entering a football field from near a goalpost.

For "A side airlines" (with gates in A side airside bldg's) you exit security a wee bit closer to the A side, etc. since the security checkpoint for departing passengers is right in the middle of the "end zone".

For both A and B side high numbered gates (#60 and up) you face left after exiting security to head for the B side. If you took the elevator down, turn left after exiting the elevator to head for the Magical Express area.
