Hi

Has anyone ever used this service? My husband is retired military and it was one of the links on the Government page. It isn't military and you don't have to be in the armed service to use it.

It's a list of parking lots that are off-airport parking. You pay one days fee to hold a spot for you then the balance is due when you leave the lot at the end of your trip. They have a shuttle that takes you from your car to the airport then back again at the end of your trip. It guarentees a spot for you and you don't have to spend time going around and around looking for a parking place.

I've already signed up for it but was wondering if anyone else had used it. You can go here to check it out if you're interested.

I just checked that site for Minneapolis and the park and fly lots and they are lots that you can book yourself, directly through that company. Airportparkinglots.com will charge you a $4.00 fee and forces you to pay 1 night up front.

The MSP parking lots don't make you pay up front and you would save the $4.00. I would assume you could book your location the same way. Try to track down the off airport parking areas and book it yourself.

I also recommend a Park and Fly Hotel. We are staying near MSP for $85 and they are keeping our car for the week..... not much more than just a parking lot, and we get to start our trip early!

Have fun.

I used to use it often, before I found a local favorite lot and started using it exclusively for their free credits. The savings usually worked out to about 15% over the drive-up price.

The surcharge and first-day prepay are new since I used it, but what you are getting for that is apparently a guarantee of a spot.
At some airports on holidays, that could really be useful. (For instance, that BWI runs out of parking spots all the time for holidays; the Washington Post travel columns talk about the problem every holiday season.)

I would suggest calling the vendors directly to see if they will match the price without a surcharge. You might get lucky.

I love the lot that I use now, so much so that I'll prefer to park there even if somewhere else is slightly cheaper. After 10 stays they issue a 10-days-free pass, which is great. We park there for our 1-2 day business trips, then collect the freebie cards to use for vacations.

Thanks for the input. We usually have someone pick us up and drop us off but we usually leave on and come back on a week-end day. This time, we're leaving on Thursday and coming back on Monday so we have to park at the airport.

I'll look into calling the lots directly but I'm glad someone else has used them and were satisfied with it.

Thanks again...

We used aiportparkinglots.com in June and I just reserved for our December trip, both for Philadelphia.

The $4 service fee was easily offset by the savings in the daily rate I would have gotten had I just used the yellow pages (assuming I could have even found the lot that I did--we're about an hour from Philadelphia). I guess I could have called and tried to get them to match the price to avoid the fee, but the $4 seems pretty nominal to me considering the time I'd spend calling to haggle or searching for coupons for something so far out of my geographic region (I don't even live in Pennsylvania).

Also, the service I use at PHL was a "valet" service. You drive to the lot, one of their drivers gets in your car and drives you to the airport and then helps you unload. On pickup, they help you load and you drop the driver off back at the lot--unless you opt ($10) for the express service in which case you can drive home directly from the airiport. We really preferred this to the more typical shuttle-type lot and the daily rate was actually cheaper than the competition.

In a nutshell, I thought it was a useful service and the fee they charged was worth it both in terms of convenience as well as actual savings on parking.

Thanks Brett. I feel the same way about the small fee they charge. We live in Ohio so aren't familiar with Pittsburg at all except for the airport. They gave a small map with the directions and it doesn't look like it's too hard to find.

I'm not sure about the valet service there. On the web site they said it was available in select areas so don't know about Pittsburgh. It would be nice, but having a spot quarenteed will be wonderful. We've flown out of Pittsburgh before and ended up parking in one of the overflow lots and although the shuttle was ok, we still had to drive for about 10 or 15 minutes before we found a spot. Then you have to remember where it is...

I feel better about booking this. Thanks all for the information.
