Not sure where to post this, and well you guys are awesome so I decided to try here! Our trip is in 30 days There will be 5 of us. I have heard stories about money coming up missing once you get through security at the airport. This makes me very nervous, I know it isn't likely and it is an exception, but I want to prepare if I can. What is the best way to carry your cash so this is even less likely to happen? It's been a few years since we have flown. Thanks guys!!

I've never had that problem. I don't even know how I could. I keep it in my purse and watch it go through the metal detector the whole time and pick it up immediately after it comes out. Same with dh and his wallet.
Don't pack cash in your checked luggage.

I've never had a problem with my wallet going through the x-ray, but you could not carry much cash and then use an ATM after you arrive.

Ditto on above. Never put cash, gift cards, credit cards, iPads, phones in your checked luggage.

Always make sure if you are detained for a check that someone is keeping eye on purse, backpack as it comes out of X-ray.

Always nice to be cautious. No need to have a vacation ruined from the beginning for sure.

I carry a small purse and put it in my carryon bag once I show the TSA my ID and ticket. I put them in the purse, then put the purse in my carryon to go through security. It makes it easier to only have one thing to grab plus my shoes once I get through.

I keep an eye on my carryon as it goes through the x-ray machine as best I can.

Never heard of such a thing, but I put an envelope full of cash in my carry on.

check nothing of value! keep all valuables on your carryon or purse. watch it go through X-ray. be alert and pick it up on the other side

Not the very best choice. A debit card doesn't offer the same fraud protections as a real credit card. Also, if there is fraud and money is stolen...you're out your real money until its resolved. A true credit card is the safest option.

I've never worried about the items IN my bag while going through security, though I do make a strong effort to not send bags through the machine until I'm about to go through (this really really REALLY irritates the MCO TSA people, despite them yelling that we should do *exactly* that) and I put things inside of my carryon, not loose in the bin.

I think the TSA people are trying to confuse us. If I do what they or the rules on their website say, I get yelled at or admonished. If I don't do what they tell me to do, I get in trouble. Actually though, I have found the pre-check people to be way nicer and professional. Best money I ever spent
