Airport Transportation Question

I have a question about the best way for my wife to get to the Orlando Airport. First, here is some quick background info. We are planning a Universal/Disney trip for September but my wife can only join us for part of our trip.

• I will be driving down with the kids from Atlanta.
• My wife will fly down a day or so later. We will be at Universal at that point so she will take a taxi to our US hotel.
• On her last day we will be visiting AK in the morning and then she has a 4:25 flight back to Atlanta. She will not have any luggage as I will be taking that back in the car.
• I'll stay with the kids until Saturday and then drive back

My question is - what is the best way for my wife to get to the airport for her flight back?

Can she use MDE even though she did not use it on the way in? If so, should she just take a bus to a resort like AKL and take MDE from there? And what if anything do we need to do to reserve it ahead of time?

1. Is she staying at a WDW Resort?
If no, then, no DME.

2. No DME without a WDW Resort stay.

Looks like a cab would do it.

Sorry - I should have put that in there. Update:

• We will all move from our Universal hotel to Port Orleans Riverside and stay there for a few days
• On her last day we will be visiting AK in the morning and then she has a 4:25 flight back to Atlanta. She will not have any luggage as I will be taking that back in the car.
• I'll stay with the kids until Saturday and then drive back

It sounds like MDE an option since we are staying on property. Two follow ups - One way trips are not an issue on MDE? And, since she will have no luggage does she need to return to POR to catch MDE to the airport or can she catch it from a resort closer to AK like AKL or one of the All Stars?

I believe she will have to catch MDE from the resort that you all will be staying at, MDE is attached to your resort reservation, it's not a separate reservation.

She will have to take DME from POR. She will also need to have a reservation for DME.

You will need to call ME (866-599-0951) and give them her return flight info. It is no problem at all to use it only one way. The night before, you will get a letter in your room letting her know what time to be at POR to catch the bus to the airport. It will be 3 hours prior to her flight time, give or take about 15 min. She will only be able to leave from POR and should be at the stop about 15 min early as the time given is the time the bus will be pulling away.

First off, so you are not confused, it is NOT MDE (My Disney Experience).That is the new Disney app that stores all of your trip info.
It is DME (for Disney Magical Expresss) or ME for short.
You can only take ME to the airport from the resort you are staying at. So she will need to return to PO for her pickup to the airport. Also the assigned pickup time will be approximately 3 hours prior to her flight time. You need to be at the ME bus stop about 15 minutes before that time.

IF you are staying at a WDW resort, she could use ME for just one way if she wants. She would have to take a bus from AK to whatever hotel you stayed at to pick up ME....you can only get on it from the resort you stayed at, and the pickup time is usually about 3 hours prior to your flight.
