Airport Transport w/wheelchair, walker, luggage

Looking for a limo service: wheelchair, walker, 4 people, luggage

We're excited...we'll be "THERE" four weeks today!!!

Getting down to the last minute planning - like transportation to/from the Orlando airport. We have decided NOT to use ME, but will arrange our own transportation. We are not renting a car.

We have never travelled by plane as a family before, and we have lots to bring: our party consists of DH, me, DS8 and DS8. One of our sons uses a combination of wheelchair and walker, and we will be bringing both. Can anyone recommend a limo service that has vehicles that can accommodate our family and all our "stuff"?

I can't provide any specific suggestions. However, if you go to the "Transportation" forum (which is two forums above "disABILITIES!" on the forum list) there should be lots of comments about companies. Once you see some, possibly having links and or phone numbers, you can contact them directly to discuss the options and costs.

Does your son need to stay in the wheelchair in the vehicle??

If not, then any of the towncar services will work just fine. Both FL Tours and Tiffany Towncars have vans that will hold your family, luggage, and wheelchairs just fine.

We were 6 adults with 3 ECVs and Tiffany was able to get all of us and our stuff in one of their vans back in 2004.

dj2: You wondered why we're not using ME. This is our first family trip to WDW, so it's not past bad experience. I think it's a reflection of my need for control (OK, I'll admit to being a control freak) - I just feel more comfortable retrieving our own bags and booking our own transport. Maybe I've read too many horror stories here on the boards, and the Unofficial Guide and...

i can totally relate

i've never used ME, but i hear you can still get the benefit of the free ride to wdw and back w/o having them handle your bags automatically. you just don't put their tags on your bags, claim the bags yourself at the ariport, and then carry them to the bus yourself. then you take them with you when you get off the bus at your resort. this is just what i've gathered from lurking on the transportation board. the reason i'm going on about it here is just that you'd be sure to get transport which accomodates all your "stuff" and would still retain the control of/access to your items. just a thought.

I also hate giving up control of our bags but when you have to go through the airport with a powerchair , a manual chair and 4 bags it gets really hard. We took ME last year and loved every minute of it. We got on a bus within 10 minutes and at our resort in 30. And all se had to lug through the airport was one char on 2 carry ons. Personally I think it's worth it but of course thats up to you.

We just returned from WDW & had a great trip! We went alone, me the wife 47 & my DH 50 who has MD and uses a power WC. I was really nervous about handling this alone but everything went GREAT! We flew with Southwest and they were wonderful. ( We hadn't flown since pre-9/11 and never just us two. ) We informed them ahead of time that he would need his chair all the way to the plane & would need assistance getting seated. They had us board first & used the little aisle wc to get him into the plane. Two guys asked him how he wanted to be moved & they moved him, I didn't even have to help. His WC is less than a month old & we were really worried about it being broken. I removed the joystick control off the arm & disengaged the wheels so they could roll it. The flight attendant put the control in the overhead bin. The WC was fine & all went well with both flights. LOVE Southwest!
We used Magical Express and it was great! We informed them ahead of time also. We only waited for a lift bus about 10 minutes, less time than most people in the line that they had us bypass. Everything went great with ME. I would highly recommend using them if you still can.
Before this we have used a Mears lift van. It's been a few years but the last time we used them it costs $25 per person for round trip to WDW. Each person must pay not just the WC passengers. The cost really added up, but at the time that all that was available.
We stayed at Beach Club Villa in a studio with a roll-in shower. The room worked great. Overall we had a wonderful time! Hope this helps! Have Fun!

We got back on Sunday. My son is in a Wheelchair. We used ME and had a good experience, even though things got hairy getting back to the airport. My son has a custom chair that doesn't fold, so trasportation has to include a vehicle with a lift. ME makes for easy transfers. On our way back, the first bus they sent was not accessible. The second bus' lift broke after they loaded my son. Finally another bus got there we were able to get him on it. We arrived at the airport with 40 minutes before departure. A Disney representative met as as we were getting off the bus and escorted us to security, were we were able to go to special line. We made our flight. Disney couldn't have been better about helping us. Mix ups are possibe no matter what service you use. If we had had a problem with anther service, our checked luggage would not have made it on the plane, because our luggage would have been all together and would have missed the hour deadline. Have a great time. It was our first time traveling with our son since his accident 5 years ago. Disney was a great place to go. We had a great vacation.
