Results are due this morning. "Unite" say if they get the mandate they could strike as soon as the 28th December, but have indicated that they will wait until January.

Just been watching it on News 24, its the 7th, 14th January both 24 hours starting at 6am and 17th January for 48 hours starting at 6am. Hope it doesn't affect any Dissers.

I heard on the radio that it's not affecting Midlands airports either.

We are due to fly out of Gatiwck on 19th January at 12.45pm so I am now expecting horrendous crowds and delays as the 48hr strike will have finished 4 hours beforehand. With 3 young children in tow and an easily grumpy husband this could be a terrible start to our first ever trip to WDW but we'll just keep in mind that we will get there in the end. Fingers crossed it isn't too bad!!! (Wishful thinking I kow)

We have been worrying over this for weeks as they expected to go on strike next week (27th), so I feel your pain anyone travelling out.

Now on the other hand we are travelling back on the 18th so I wander how this is going to affect us? No way am I staying out there until they can get me on a flight home :rotfl2: I think this is going to cause quite a few problems for some.

We fly out on the 13th Jan and back on the 27th, so far we are not effected, also it doesn't seem that Manchester is effected anyway??

Fingers crossed we avoid any hassle, if we were still young and childless it wouldn't worry me too much, but with 2 LO's the thought of having to hang around the airport doesn't fill me with glee........

Hope everyone else manages to avoid any chaos too?!?

Ali.

Hi,
We fly back on the 7th so should land at Gatwick at 6.55am on the 8th. The airport should have reopened at about 6am. But I am worried as I my return flight is prob the one leaving Gatwick on the 7th so if it doen't get out we won't get back. Do any of the experts on here know what is likely to happen in terms of flights back in leaving orlando on the 7th. At least we will get there ok -so releived about that!! Feeling sorry for those just starting there hols on the strike dates! - hope something is sorted for them.

Jacquie

Me too we fly out of Gatwick on the 3rd Jan (so ok going) but fly back on the 18th-arriving 7:30am on the 19th. Worried it will be cancelled! Any advice?

Flying BA not virgin, there is nothing on their website. Guess I will just have to sit an wait it out.

Already extended the holiday by one day as BA cancelled flight on 17th, and now my rearranged flight on the 18th is in jeopady what a nightmare!!!!

Yeah I think it's going to be a waiting game too. We are also due to fly back on the 18th but not to bothered if we stay a day or two :goodvibes

Me too! Are you flying virgin?

We fly out Saturday with Virgin, so I guess we'll just keep checking on any updates. I've already told my boss I may be back late so secretly I don't mind coming home a few days later!
If they do strike I can't see how there would be a plane in Orlando on the 18th to get us back??

Yup I did the same-I'm not very good with not knowing about what is going on.

Fortunetly BA had already cancelled flights on the 17th so they only have problems with the ones on the 18th to contend with!!

We are due to fly from Gatwick to Sanford in 17th January departing at 10am.

We are flying with First Choice - does this mean we will be affected by the stupid union strike action. A 48 hour strike planned the day we are meant to fly!

I really do not know where to check to get information and what is actually happening. To possibly lose two days of a holiday we booked over a year ago and have saved for all year makes me so sick.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

We fly out 19th Jan on the 12.45 and I am so worried about delays, its really ruins your holiday if its a long delay. Virgin's website says that if the delay is over 5 hours then they will consider booking you onto another flight and that you can change you flights if you wish.

I am hoping that by the time they have done the first two 24 hour strikes that they will all come to an arrangement and the second 48 hour one wont go ahead.

I don't really know what the current employees are going on about as the pension issue that is in debate is for new employees, not the ones currently employed. Thats just my 2p worth.

We are in the same boat as many of you.

British Airways has already cancelled our flights (Gatwick/Orlando/Gatwick) on both 17th and 31st January (nothing to do with the impending strike) but now we are faced with the uncertainty of industrial action on the 17th.

I have been keeping a close eye on BA, BAA and Unite websites but no joy so far - still striking!

Keep checking and keep posting :goodvibes
