airport security-socks or no socks?

I have never heard of anyone being asked to remove their socks before going through security. Shoes yes, but never socks. :confused3

They can, and have asked us to remove our socks before.

Just another example of TSA overreaching. There is nothing in the TSA regs that require you remove your socks.

I agree, we fly about 15 times a year and never been asked to take our socks off.

I usually wear sneakers with socks but since my feet really swell up on the airplane I've recently switched to wearing birks on the plane. Maybe I'm in the minority but taking off my shoes and walking sock footed or barefoot through the line doesn't skeeve me out. I say go with whatever you are personally comfortable with in determining the shoes and what you wear with them.

Just be careful walking w/ the socks on. I just flew today from PHL - when I stepped off the carpet onto the floor in my socks, I came close to going down. Luckily, I caught myself. I usually wear socks, but that's the first time I came close to slipping - They must have just waxed the floors!!

I had a bad experience at MCO last time. I took my shoes off right before entering the line at the security check area (to save time and not hold up the people behind me). The sneakers I was wearing had laces and a velcro part so they weren't coming off easily. The agent made a nasty comment about me dragging my germs all through the airport. I had on brand new white cotton socks, and the sneakers were new for the trip. We're talking a very short distance here. I wonder what her problem was?

Just another example of fine customer service by the TSA.

I'm also one that flies several times a year and as long as it's warm, I always wear sandles without socks. I've never had an issue with it or given much thought to the fact of being barefoot through security. Like someone else said, I walk barefoot in my hotel room and also at water parks, so I just don't worry about it. :thumbsup2
