Airport security card

There was a thing called the Clear Card that allowed passengers to get through security more quickly at a very limited number of airports, but that service shut down about 18 months ago. I'm not aware of anything else like that.

Thanks.

When I flew from Orlando last fall there was a special line that business people were in that was shorter and faster. I was wondering what that line was for.

Clear is BACK> And for SOME reason they chose MCO as one of their two opening airports :lmao: (You don't suppose it's the fact that a lot of us joined just because of that nightmare do you?? wonder why that is where it's most popular....)

Could be the return of Clear as cited by the PP. Or there can be some kind of express line that's generally reserved for first class passengers and elite frequent flyers. I guess the latter group generally has some kind of card, but it's earned by flying too much.

A security guard walked them over to a glass door that he opened for them. This allowed them to bypass about 90% of the line we stood in.

MCO does not have elite flyer lines.

They used to have an "expert" flyer line. That's been replaced by the Clear line.

There is also an employee line.

Not sure what OP saw!

That's the Clear line. I was a member when I lived in MCO. However, I live closer to SJU nowadays, which makes it pointless to me.

What I do to speed things up now is just flash an elite card (usually AA or Continental), and those generally get me through at most airports. I'm also a member of Global Entry, which gets me through customs/immigration at airports that use it. Usually in seconds.

The elite card does you no good at MCO.

I don't live anywhere CLOSE to MCO. I am willing to PAY clear just for those few times I fly out of that disaster of an airport! :rotfl2:

I realize that... my home airport now is SJU, where elite cards are respected; and my main worksites are PTY and MIA where.... *gasp*... elite cards are again respected.

Nowadays I'm in MCO a handful of times a year, and I guess I'm lucky since I've never waited more than 20 minutes there. I just walk around the families :D

Clear is back at MCO, also Denver. I'll be getting it for DH and I. Kids under 18 are covered with their parents.

Looked it up..$155. You must verify at an Enrollment Center with a passport and other form of ID.

$155 is money you could spend at Disney. So you must have a passport to get the clear card. Interesting. I for one refuse to get a passport especially at the price they are now. I have no desire to leave this country. cant wait for the day the good ole USA requires all citizens to carry one with them at all times. You did know that China requires that of their people didnt you? Are we next?

Clear is presently $155 if you use a Mastercard, and it is only for a little while. The regular rate is $179.

Sorry, but $310 is small potatoes compared to the lines at MCO. We are in and out of there enough in a year to more than make it worth our while.

Sorry to dredge up an old thread, but it seemed the most appropriate one.

Just wanted to post an update that people holding Trusted Traveler cards (Global Entry, Nexus, etc.) are now granted access to TSA Pre-Check expedited security lines at select checkpoints in various airport terminals across the USA. Depending on the airport, this means no longer having to remove shoes and belts, liquids from carryons, laptops from briefcases, etc.

A list of participating airports and terminals can be found at the TSA's website.
