Airport Screener Answering Questions

Just wanted to ask about the announcement made recently about terrorist using electronical devices to hide explosives - Have the screeners started checking these items by hand - If so, what should we expect -

Would the metal detector harm your baby????

I'd check it out with my dr, and if so, ask for a hand screen, or whatever. Don't ask the screeners, they just want to keep the line moving.

No, it will not harm the baby . Unless of course the baby is made of metal.

I'm getting braces next month and I'm wondering if that's going to set off any of the metal detectors at the airport.

Also, I'll be traveling alone with my 4 year - I really disliked how they made him (when he was 3) go ahead of me through the detector. I don't like the idea of not being able to hold his hand when I'm in an unfamiliar place with many people around. I guess the best thing is for me to go through first and then have him go through next.

And I'm always worried that someone is going to swipe my stuff at the end of the detector while I'm still trying to go through it. Does that every happen?

Braces probably will not set of the metal detector. In reality, putting the child through first is the best bet, he can't run far if you are behind him. I doubt much is stolen at the end of the scanner, there is a ton of security around. Usually your "stuff" isn't done being scanned until you are throught the detector and waiting for it. I send my laptop through all the time (out of it's case of course) and nothing has happened to it yet. And, I have no worries about it either. : ) Relax.
