Just wondering, does anyone just take an uber to the airport? I realize this is conditional on a lot of variables of distance to airport etc, but in my case it cost $50 for a ride to the airport. No dealing with traffic, right to the main terminal, and most importantly no parking fees(which are $20 a day at mine). It's kind of a no brainer, I would spend the same amount driving myself back and forth(more with gas), finding a spot and walking probaly 3x's as much to terminal.

Is this common or typical?

My family either Uber’s or pays one of the kids as an uber. DH and my daughter parked in short term parking for a one night college visit. We’ve done long term but is a PITA.

100% taxi or Uber. Besides saving money you also save time and eliminate the risk of your car being vandalized or damaged in the parking lot.

Depends on what time your flights are. We have an uber scheduled for early flight. But, it never showed. I had scramble and drove ourselves.

This is my concern. Have a 6 AM flight this Saturday. Thinking of scheduling a regular cab istead of ride share. Definitely don't want to drive and pay to park.

We had a 6 am flight last time we went and I did not want to take magical express because I did not want to leave at 330 am. I used that reserve an uber ride on the app and then at 430 I get this email that said one is not available. I was freaking out but I went on lyft and one showed 8 mins away (And uber showed about the same. ) all the stupid reserve thing does is sends out your request at the time you want it's not really reserved.
Next time I have an early flight im moving to a hotel near the airport preferably one with a shuttle I am not going through that again.

This flight is out of Reagan airport. We only live about 10 minutes away, I hear parking there is really expensive. New to the area, so no previouis experience here, neighbors seem to recommend cab. Going to be a very busy weekend at the airport!

We Uber/Lyft to the airport all of the time. Much easier than having to park or return a rental car. I've recently started scheduling all of my rides when I know in advance and have never not had a ride show up. Actually, one of my last drivers said that scheduled rides are prioritized over non-scheduled rides, I'm not sure if he said he finds about about them in advance.

Always take my own car to the airport. We use one of those park&fly places that is a secured lot and has 24hr shuttle buses taking you to/from the airport and drop you right off by the airport entrance. Also works great if you happen to travel early/late as you don't have to drag your luggage through some dark airport parking garage.

If new to your area check online to see about which off-site park&fly places are around since their prices tend to be very competitive.

I have parked at DCA once for an early flight. (We typically flight out of BWI and DCA is almost 2 hours away but the price was better.) You can online and reserve a spot but we found getting to the parking lot tricky and using the prepaid scan didn’t work very well. I would definitely Uber for convenience.

Depends on the distance and the time. My mother lives 4 miles from MSP, she takes an uber just about every time she flies. I live 75 miles from MKE, for me it's not cost effective to get a cab or uber. Even when I flew out of ORD, I booked a hotel room and parking package, it ended up costing me about $45 to park for 4 days there.

It is both common and typical. And for the reasons you mention.

We usually take an Uber or have a family member drive us if available. We are about a half hour drive from the airport.

Always done Uber or gotten a ride. Never saw the need to spend hundreds for airport parking when I could spend $20 each way for an Uber. Same thing in Orlando, prefer to Uber over Disney bus to the hotel if we are not renting a car. It’s just a convenient alternative and saves time.
