Has anyone here on the Dis booked and used an airport lounge at Orlando international airport - we are thinking of doing this but have no idea if they are worth it or if we can book them from here in the UK any advice would be appreciated

I don't know what lounges there are at MCO, but I can't imagine ever bothering - we always use the lobby lounge at the Hyatt which is a haven of peace. If there is no-one taking drinks orders, just get them from the bar in McCoys (also a nice place for food if you need to eat) and take them back into the lobby.

I looked into this too and couldn't find any reference to lounges at MCO. I have booked myself in to the Gatwick one for my departure and return wait as I need to get the flight to/from Glasgow and it's about a 3 hour stopover.

I don't suppose I'd really need it at MCO anyway, but as I said, there was no listing on the lounge websites I looked at.

Sorry, could someone explain about these lounges. Am i right in thinking that if you pay a premiumn you get the use of some sort of exclusive lounge. If so what is the cost and what does that include, as we also have a long stopover at Gatwick before we fly on to sunny Devon.

Using Virgin atlantic and flying Upper class we get the use of the Delta Lounge (Its above the food court after the tram)

Its OK, no food allowed in, but plenty of free drinks.
Its very nice an a calming and comfortable area to wait.
Pictures are available on the V-Flyer web site.
We eat at mcCoys first then go into the lounge

If you are a member of the Priority Pass system, you can go into two lounges at Orlando, the Delta or the United red carpet Club. I have never used that lounge.
You can also use this card to get access at Gatwick to
Aviance executive suite
Delta crown room
Continental presidents club
Servisair Executive lounge
US airways club

I think also, you can get lounge access by buying access in the uSA via either Delta or United, have a look on their web sites.

the best lounge of all however is Virgins clubhouse at Gatwick :sunny:

The lounge at MCO is the Delta Crown Lounge (delta airlines), they offer an annual pass at around $200 or a one-off at around $50 (but I believe the one-off pass is only available if the lounge is not full - does anyone know for sure?).

Just a thought I might book a lounge at Gatwick - but do they allow children we will have children with us of 13 and 9, if they allow them will there be computer games etc for them!!!!

I have just looked at our family staying in the North Terminal lounge at Gatwick. They do allow children but you can only book the lounge for 2 hrs.
The cost we were quoted was approx 70 pounds. This i suppose isnt to bad but we land at 0735hrs and dont fly back to Plymouth until 1245hrs. This would mean me paying double. This makes it a tad more unreasonable.
Does anyone know if staff in the lounge really monitor how long people are in ther for ?

As mentioned above, Priority Pass is decent value if you want to use lounges on a regular basis. Basically, you pay £69 for the pass, and then £15 each time you use a lounge (this will get you and all your guests in the lounge).

I have just checked out the priority pass scheme. It appears to be excellent value for money.
Are the number of guests limited as i would be bringing 3 ?
Are the lounges the same lounges as the other ones you can gain entry to ?
Thanks for the tip. Excellent.

Taken from the FAQ on the site:

'You can invite friends or guests to join you in the lounges. Most lounges will allow any number of guests but where there are limits, details are shown in the Lounge Directory and on the lounge search.'

And, yes, the lounges are the same ones as used by the airlines themselves, but you have to be a member to find out exactly which ones. As mentioned above, I know it gets you into the Delta Crown Lounge at Orlando.

"What if I am traveling with a colleague who isn't a member of Priority Pass?

You can invite friends or guests to join you in the lounges. Most lounges will allow any number of guests but where there are limits, details are shown in the Lounge Directory and on the lounge search."

There is also this version by another company. I know nothing about them though..

I should have said in my initial post I am a member of Priority pass, so the two lounges mentioned are the two for Orlando International
It also gets you into The Guest house at sanford for £15 each

I have used the Red Carpet Club (United Airlines) lounge at MCO - paid extra miles to get a year's membership once when I was doing a LOT of flying - and it's quite nice, although a little on the small side compared to some of their other airport lounges. Waitress service on snacks and drinks (free except for alcoholic), a large selction of newspaper and magazines, a few TV's (mainly tuned into news or sports) and some VERY comfy chairs.

Is the priority pass an annual fee or a one off payment and can you pre-book the lounges or do you just turn up and hope there is space!!

Its an annual fee plus a payment of £15 for each visit per person.
You don't pre book, just turn up at the door.
The access is the same as for that airlines ticket holders, if there is space they will let you in, if not, then in normal situations there is an alternative lounge available.
