Does anyone here fly out of the Jackson, MS airport??? I am looking for information about parking, etc. because I am thinking of changing my Southwest flights in late October from New Orleans to Jackson while the Florida Fare sale is still going on. I figure if I wait until it gets closer and then find out New Orleans won't be operating the fares will probably be really high. Jackson is the only airport near us, besided New Orleans, that has direct flights to Orlando. Fares out of Jackson now are $39 one way and that would be worth the almost 4 hour drive and cost of parking. Flights out of Lafayette and Baton Rouge are $250+ per person. Any info would be appreciated!

Hi, I just changed my tickets for our Dec trip. We were flying out of New Orleans and now we will be flying out of Jackson. Right now the prices for our time aren't that great (I'm still hoping for a great Ding rate). The Jackson - Evers airport has a nice website. Did you check there? I went on MapQuest last night to get directions. I am still hoping that MSY will open back up by Dec. I Know that Kenner is getting some power back on and the clean up has begun in full force. I just don't know what other factors affect the airport coming back online. I wish SW would add more direct flights from Jackson to Orlando, right now they only have one flight a day.

Update: I just checked the parking out... they are building a parking garage that won't be ready for quite sometime. They have two parking lots. The parking is $10 a day. They offer a shuttle van from one and a shuttle cart from the other. They recommend dropping off luggage (and other people) and then going to park.

Thanks for the info. I will check out the airports website. I am going to call Southwest today and see if they can give me any info on when the airport will reopen.

:wave2: I have flown out of Jackson many times. The airport is fine and easy to locate. I would, however, stash a couple of cans of fix-a-flat. I almost always have at least one tire with the air let out.[
